Located just outside Nashville, Indiana, Abe Martin Lodge is nestled in the picturesque hills of Indiana's largest state park, Brown County State Park. The lodge features 84 guest rooms, the Little Gem Restaurant, cabins, an indoor water park, and over 6,000 square feet of banquet/conference space.
Role Overview:
Perform routine inspections and preventive maintenance on Lodge equipment, systems, and facilities, including HVAC units, plumbing fixtures, electrical systems, lighting, and appliances.
Respond promptly to guest and staff maintenance requests, troubleshooting and repairing issues such as leaky faucets, malfunctioning locks, broken furniture, or faulty electrical outlets.
Maintain swimming pools, spas, and outdoor areas by monitoring water quality, cleaning filters, and performing minor landscaping or groundskeeping tasks.
Assist with room turnovers by addressing any maintenance needs before new guests arrive, ensuring rooms are in top condition.
Handle emergency repairs, including after-hours calls, to minimize downtime and ensure guest safety (e.g., fixing water leaks, power outages, or security system issues).
Maintain inventory of tools, supplies, and parts; order replacements as needed while adhering to budget guidelines.
Ensure compliance with health, safety, and building codes, including fire safety inspections and OSHA regulations.
Collaborate with other departments, such as housekeeping and front desk, to coordinate maintenance activities and minimize disruptions.
Document all maintenance work, including logs of repairs, inspections, and equipment status.
Participate in energy conservation efforts by identifying and implementing efficiency improvements.
Hourly Rate Statement:
The hourly rate for this position traditionally starts at $15.23/hr but may be commensurate with education or work experience.
A Day in the Life:
The Maintenance Technician responds to all General Maintenance service calls. Responsible for Life Safety standards, performing necessary tasks and demonstrating knowledge relating to hotel property maintenance. Evaluating maintenance with high-quality standards and an exceptional guest service mindset.
Facilitates the daily maintenance operations throughout the property by walk-through and visual inspections assessing the safe and efficient maintenance of the physical structure of the hotel, kitchen, restaurant, banquet, and dining areas
Performs or directs basic repair and maintenance of facilities, guest rooms, and public spaces
Maintains building by performing/directing basic repairs, carpentry, shoveling, clean-up work, snow-ice removal, plumbing, electrical wiring, painting, and related maintenance activities
Optimizes maintenance staff and outside vendors repairs, replacements, audits/inspections, and improvement projects
Prioritizes work orders through urgent requests or schedules work to minimize inconveniencing hotel/banquet/dining guests and coordinates those schedules with affected departments
Inspects and maintains machinery and equipment for conformance with operations, optimizing the assets, and meeting safety standards
Moves supplies, furniture, fixtures, equipment, and guest luggage as required
Able to maintain all Indiana State Park Inns standards and excel during annual inspections
Properly maintain inventory of tools, equipment, and supplies required for daily operations and projects
Organizes tools and supplies to increase productivity
Provides timely and professional assistance to the other departments of the hotel
Accountable for materials used and requesting of items needed for projects
Maintains cleanliness and organization of work areas
Handles chemicals according to hotel/regulatory safety requirements
Ensures security of any assigned keys and RFID key system
Associates must maintain a neat, clean, and well-groomed appearance
Other duties as assigned
What You'll Need for Success:
Strong knowledge of commercial building repair and maintenance to include all trades i.e. Electrical, Plumbing, Drywall, Paint, Carpentry, and Carpet repair. 5 years of hospitality maintenance experience preferred. Ensure safe operation of tools. Read basic building plans and researching product drawings, specifications, and manuals. Must possess physical stamina and condition to withstand heavy labor in an outside environment. Ability to work without supervision and maintain excellent attendance and punctuality. Able to work a varied schedule including holidays, weekends, and nights as business dictates. Requires assigned times of being on call 24/7 to support immediate and emergency needs. Frequent standing; walking; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. Frequent lifting and/or move up to 100 pounds. Requires repetitive motion and manual dexterity to use and operate all necessary equipment. Occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; moving mechanical parts; high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; toxic or caustic chemicals; outside weather conditions; extreme cold; extreme heat and risk of electrical shock.
