This position exists to manage district maintenance operations through the development and administration of operations plans and programs including subarea work plans, BARC, partnering, emergency response, safety and awareness, policy, education and information, fiscal and resource planning/allocation, systems management, and labor relations and managing employee performance, to ensure that department and district objectives are met.
Identify and develop road and roadside maintenance preservation and repair programs through the use of seasonal and long-term work plans and performance measures and targets.
Manage the District resources (personnel, budgets, equipment, etc.) and activity priorities.
Serve as equipment coordinator to ensure that shared equipment is available for district maintenance crews between subareas, work closely with District Fleet Manager, Assistant Maintenance Manager and Maintenance Engineer to develop equipment budget priorities.
To direct, coordinate, and provide assistance to field operations between supervisors, construction and other Districts.
Monitor performance of work areas.
Recommend appropriate BARC funding level requests and maintenance preservation projects and materials compatible with BARC funding criteria.
Lead and supervise staff.
Exercise authority to hire, transfer, suspend, promote, discharge, assign, reward or discipline employees, direct the work of assigned employees, and adjustment of employees' grievances.
Assist in developing and implementing training programs and safety awareness programs.
Work closely with Assistant Maintenance Manager and Safety Administrator in building our desired Safety Culture, in addition to ensuring and promoting safety in all phases of our district operations.
Promote and establish a diverse and inclusive work environment within highway maintenance.
Act as data administrator for maintenance section in RCA, Transportation Asset Management System (TAMS) Power BI, Work Management System (WMS), and Geotab.
Enhanced field presence in supporting maintenance supervisors in field operations, including but not limited to emergency incidents.
Respond to all customers, public, media and other agencies' inquiries in a timely manner.
Establish a positive working relationship with MnDOT functional areas/offices, other government agencies, vendors and the general public.
Minimum Qualifications
Class A Commercial Driver's License with tanker endorsement and no air brake restrictions.
AND
Two years of advanced supervisory experience (e.g., TOS 3) of (bridge/roadside/sign) maintenance operations that included hiring, training, and supervision of (bridge/roadside/sign) maintenance crews;
OR
Three years of supervisory experience (e.g., TOS 2) of (bridge/roadside/sign) maintenance operations that included hiring, training, and supervision of (bridge/roadside/sign) maintenance crews.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience operating, inspecting, maintaining and repairing highway maintenance equipment.
Expertise in Microsoft Office products.
