About the role
Are you passionate about turning innovative ideas into real-world manufacturing excellence? This role is for a Technician working in the Additive Manufacturing (AM) or 3D Printing space, which includes (but are not limited to) the additive processes and any relevant pre and post processing of the components (e.g. support removal, Hot Isostatic Pressing, etc.).
Key Responsibilities:
Fleet Operation - Accountable for the safe, efficient operation of the additive-manufacturing asset fleet. Hands-on in the delivery of agreed development and experimental programs on time and within resource targets - you are responsible for running the fleet of AM/3DP machines and post-processing equipment! Maintain rigorous QHSE compliance, detail operational performance, and drive improvements to uptime, throughput and resource utilization.
Fleet Availability - Responsible for ensuring maximum equipment availability and readiness across the fleet. Manage preventative and corrective maintenance, routine calibration and servicing activities for machines and associated facility systems. Coordinate external service providers and contractors when specialist support is required. Own inventory planning and procurement for consumables, spare parts, tooling and raw materials to support uninterrupted operations.
Process Industrialization - Responsible for equipment deployment and commissioning, including installation qualifications (IQ/OQ/PQ) where required. Conduct capability studies and validate process performance through Cp/Pp and Cpk/Ppk analysis; implement root-cause adjustments and controls to achieve consistent, production-grade processes. Establish process controls, monitoring, and continuous improvement plans to sustain product quality and yield.
Improvement Mentality - Apply modern agile management and rapid-innovation methodologies to continuously identify, prioritize, and act on improvement opportunities. Lead fast, data-driven changes and scale successful pilots, ensuring all activities remain fully compliant with applicable regulatory requirements.
Support, Collaboration & Governance - Provide specialized technical support to existing initiatives within the business, working collaboratively with multi-functional teams to resolve challenges and streamline operations.
Experience, skills & proficiencies required:
Qualification or Equivalent Experience in the field of Engineering, Science, Manufacturing, Production and/or Operations Management.
Experience with 3D modelling software (such as Siemens NX, Materialize Magics, 3DXPERT, DMP control, etc.), slicing software and machine controller software related to 3D Systems printers and related technologies would be highly desirable.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Passionate about leading significant change initiatives that have delivered breakthrough results for an organization.
Strong customer relationship management, with an ability to understand and address client frustrations and spot opportunities.
Proven business experience required, with experience in a regulated manufacturing environment.
Deep understanding of Additive Manufacturing processes, technologies, and innovation ecosystems is desirable.
Proficiency of GD&T, the ASME Y12.5M 1994 standards, root cause analysis tools and problem-solving techniques would be an advantage.
