Job Overview
Police Technical Operations Manager, Georgetown University Police Department - Georgetown University. This specialized, emergency-essential role is responsible for the oversight and management of all critical technological and informational systems utilized by the Georgetown University Police Department (GUPD) and Capitol Campus Department of Public Safety. The Manager ensures the reliable operation, security, and regulatory compliance (e.g., CJIS) of all law enforcement technologies, serving as the primary technical liaison between GUPD, University IT services, external vendors, and law enforcement agencies. This position is vital to maintaining the safety and operational continuity of the University's public safety functions.
Duties include but are not limited to:
? Supervise the lifecycle management and maintenance of all GUPD technical equipment (e.g., Video Monitoring, Body-Worn Cameras, Digital Radio).
? Act as the subject matter expert and system administrator for all law enforcement-specific applications (e.g., CAD/RMS, KeyWatcher, Alarm Management).
? Ensure strict security, confidentiality, and regulatory compliance of all law enforcement data and information systems (e.g., NCIC/WALES).
? Serve as the primary project leader and technical representative for GUPD system upgrades and new technology deployments.
? Create, implement, and maintain departmental technology policies, documentation, and training programs.
? Provide 24/7 on-call technical support for campus emergencies and critical incidents.
Work Interactions
The Police Technical Operations Manager reports directly to the UIS AVP of Service Management This person functions as the primary technical liaison between the highly specialized, regulated environment of the GUPD and the broader University Information Services (UIS) department. The Manager collaborates with UIS account/service managers, infrastructure teams, and security teams. Externally, the role requires regular communication with law enforcement agencies regarding confidential records systems (e.g., CJIS access) and with external technology vendors (e.g., CAD/RMS providers) for maintenance and project planning. This role is essential in translating law enforcement operational needs into technical requirements.
Requirements and Qualifications
? Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (e.g., Criminal Justice, Information Technology, Public Safety Administration) or equivalent combination of education and specialized technical/law enforcement experience.
? A minimum of five (5) years of progressive experience managing, maintaining, and supporting complex technical systems and project management principles
? Possession or ability to obtain and maintain Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) certification is mandatory.
? Core Technical Skills:
Expert knowledge of law enforcement databases and applications (e.g., Computer-Aided Dispatch (CAD), Report Management Systems (RMS)).
Strong technical knowledge of software, hardware, and network security principles as they apply to confidential law enforcement data.
Experience managing or supporting physical security systems (e.g., campus video monitoring, electronic key management, alarm systems).
? Skills and Requirements:
Must be a U.S. citizen and at least 21 years of age.
Ability to pass a comprehensive background investigation and drug screening required for law enforcement personnel.
Excellent written and oral communication skills, capable of preparing detailed technical reports and policies.
Highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to work collaboratively with diverse departments and external partners.
Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license.
Preferred Qualifications
? Experience with PowerDMS, Omnigo, Mark43, or Hexagon Intergraph systems.
? Certification in IT Service Management (ITIL) or relevant security (e.g., CompTIA Security+)

Pay Range:
The projected salary or hourly pay range for this position which represents the full range of anticipated compensation is:
$47,586.00 - $87,558.13
Compensation is determined by a number of factors including, but not limited to, the candidate's individual qualifications, experience, education, skills, and certifications, as well as the University's business needs and external factors.
