GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES: The 2nd Shift Production Supervisor is a working supervisor, with at least 30% of time doing production work, who supervises team members in assigned areas. This role is a working supervisor that contributes to the Team as well as provides supervision to 8-12 production workers. Areas of supervision may include Welding, Material Handling, Grinding, Machine Shop, and Paint.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Working leadership position includes direct participation in manufacturing work while leading team members.
Likely to operate fork trucks, plasma table, or welder (depending on candidate's prior experience).
Completes continuous improvement initiatives.
Supervises and coordinates machine set-ups and operations requiring a broad knowledge of manufacturing and metal fabrication processes, parts, and industrial applications to provide efficient production that meets quality, quantity, schedule, and cost requirements.
Organizes and assigns work to utilize available skills, knowledge and experience, machines, and tooling to maintain schedule and minimize costs.
Recommends maintenance and safety improvements to Management.
Handles day-to-day workflow issues within assigned teams under the direction of management.
Reviews employee production paperwork ensuring completeness and accuracy.
Collaborates with Production Manager to make sure the appropriate levels of staffing in accordance with skill requirements, work levels, and schedules, including monitoring work hours and training requirements.
Be an advocate for the Safety Program ensuring that safety rules and regulations are enforced.
Participates in internal programs, such as safety committee, job evaluations and performance reviews.
Effective interaction, guidance, and development of employees within the group.
Responsible for locking up the facility at the end of the night and making sure that employees have cleaned up their work areas for the next day.
Act as Emergency Response Team Leader to coordinate activities related to emergencies, including but not limited to evacuation notification, accounting for all employees including building walk-through, shut down of equipment and utilities, care of critical plant operations during evacuation, and direct emergency personnel including communication of emergency details.
Perform work in a safe manner and complete all required safety inspections.
Enforces conformance with safety rules and regulations.
It is required that if you see or are made aware of a safety related issue or concern that you address it immediately.
Involved with continuous improvement efforts regarding all aspects of safety.
Must be able to wear required personal protective equipment while on the production floor.

QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE, and SKILLS:
High school diploma required, college degree preferred.
A minimum of five (5) years' experience in a manufacturing environment in a production role, which includes two or more of the following: welding, painting, grinding, drilling, machining, hydraulic assembly, forklift and overhead crane operation, or other related functions.
Prefer knowledge of blueprint symbols, welding symbols, welding terminology.
Prefer experience in reading, interpretation, and use of Engineered Drawings.
Must have both hands-on experience and the ability to supervise and lead production employees.
Must possess strong verbal and written communication skills.
Demonstrated ability to work cooperatively with management, co-workers, vendors, and distributors.
Must be detail oriented with attention to accuracy.
Must be able to read, write, and speak English language and be understood.
Must be able to work with minimum supervision.
Demonstrated ability to handle multiple priorities simultaneously.
Must be able to work with various technologies.
Lean Manufacturing experience preferred.
At least 3 years experience working with ERP systems
Proficient in Microsoft office (Outlook, Excel, Word)
Certified fork truck driver preferred.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES : The Production Supervisor supervises the work of employees in various departments. Supervisory responsibilities include handling disciplinary issues, scheduling, training and development, interviewing and hiring, terminations, promotions, compensation, and performance management.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Must possess sight/hearing senses or use prosthetics that will enable these senses to function adequately so that the requirements of this position can be fully met. Physical activity includes walking, standing, sitting, pushing, pulling, climbing, kneeling, bending, reaching above shoulders, and lifting up to 50 pounds. If work demands require lifting in excess of 50 pounds, the use of a mechanical device or initiation of a two-person lift is required.

WORK ENVIRONMENT: Perform activities in a well-lighted and well-ventilated area.
