Who will you be working with?
This position is located in our small, but growing, manufacturing and overhaul/repair facility located in Greenville. We primarily manufacture and overhaul components for the transit industry (subway and commuter rail). We have been in operation for over 50 years and offer fantastic benefits and stable work environment. Benefits include medical/dental/vision as well as many supplemental options at low rates. How will you make a difference?
The Manufacturing Engineer Manager will lead and manage the activities of manufacturing engineering department (4-6 engineers and technicians) to design, maintain and improve the processes, capital equipment and facilities that directly support the business. Works closely with the Operations leaders and other functional leaders in the company, including those in finance, sales, and operations. Responsible for the company's process development activities and the maintaining and improving of those processes. Commitment to continuous improvement practices and achieving company goals, strategies, plans and policies.
What do we want to know about you?
Bachelor's degree in engineering or related field preferred
Minimum of three to five years engineering related experience preferred
Strong knowledge of and experience with manufacturing processes to include assembly, welding, machining and paint of metal components.
Familiarity and experience with a variety of the field's concepts, practices, and procedures is essential Strong organization and planning skills.
Proficient in the use of GD&T.
Proficient in the use of Access, Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint is required.
Proficient with Solidworks.
Experience with MRP/ERP system.
Ability to take lead in projects and attain results with minimal guidance.
Excellent communication skills; ability to communicate technical concepts to all audiences.
Solid understanding of quality management systems including current ISO-9001 standard.
Ability to work effectively in and/or lead a cross functional team environment.
Strong analytical, time management and technical writing skills.
Some travel required.
What will your typical day look like?
Improve the operational systems, processes and policies in support of the organizations mission
Development and organization of people with expanding capabilities. Coach, develop and train direct reports
Develop and maintain productive employee relationships. Provide direction, training, and development as needed
Responsible for achieving operational targets that are needed for overall corporate target achievement
Overall management of team, budget, expenses, capital expenditures, processes and procedures for an operational group
Lead implementation of best manufacturing practices and regulatory compliance for engineering activities
Foster and lead activities to improve cost, quality, lead time, and safety of group
Provide support to engineering for product changes and design for manufacturability enhancements
Coaches and directs teams in the spirit of continuous process improvement, improved product quality, shortened department lead times, and effective use of technology.
Ability to assess manufacturing engineering workload and issues and provide primary and secondary solutions for a resolution to manufacturing and facilities issues, including outsourcing services if necessary.
Create, Implement, and Evaluate TPM & PM within the facility for all machinery and equipment and tracking mechanism to data-mine as necessary, while driving efficiency and stability in our processes.
Maintains a working knowledge of new technologies which may improve operations, and develops recommendations accordingly.
Maintains a working knowledge of safety policies and regulations to ensure duties of self and others are performed in a safe manner.
Communicates with planning and design staff concerning product design and tooling to assure efficient production methods.
Investigates, negotiates, justifies and coordinates the purchase and implementation of capital projects.

Environment: While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works in an indoor manufacturing environment. The employee will work in areas exposed to production activities to include but not limited to production machinery, assembly operations, overhead cranes usage, and forklift traffic. The employee will be required to use personal protective equipment to prevent exposure to workplace hazards.
Mental Demands: While performing the duties of this class, the employee is regularly required to use written and oral communication skills; read and interpret data, information and documents; analyze and solve problems; use math and mathematical reasoning; observe and interpret situations; learn, apply and teach new information or skills; and interact with other employees, customers and vendors.

Our job titles may span more than one career level. The salary rate for this role is currently $91100-129800. The actual salary offered to a candidate may be influenced by a variety of factors, such as: training, transferable skills, work experience, education, business needs, market demands and work location.
