Indiana Department of Environmental Management (IDEM):
Our mission is to implement federal and state regulations to protect human health and the environment while allowing the environmentally sound operations of industrial, agricultural, commercial, and governmental activities vital to a prosperous economy. We issue air, water, and solid and hazardous waste permits that restrict discharges to environmentally safe levels. Staff members inspect and monitor regulated entities; provide compliance and technical assistance; monitor and assess air, land, and water quality; use enforcement actions as necessary to ensure compliance; and respond to incidents involving spills to soil or waters of the state.
Role Overview:
The incumbent oversees multiple concurrent projects and ensures they advance toward successful completion. Key responsibilities include managing large enterprise level initiatives with diverse stakeholders and contracted partners; developing and maintaining comprehensive project plans; coordinating stakeholder activities to keep work aligned with scope, timelines, and budgets; and providing clear, consistent status updates to leadership and project teams. The ideal candidate brings strong project planning, execution, and communication discipline; the ability to balance best practice standards with real world agency constraints; demonstrated initiative and ability to independently drive work forward in complex, multi stakeholder environments; and exceptional organizational skills to maintain clarity and structure across competing priorities and extensive documentation.
Salary Statement:
The salary for this position traditionally starts at $79,118.00 but may be commensurate with education or work experience.
A Day in the Life:
The essential functions of this role are as follows:
Manage projects with moderate complexity and scope that may involve multiple internal or external stakeholders or contracted resources.
Develop and manage detailed project plans, timelines, work breakdown structures and budgets.
Define user and project team member's roles and responsibilities on each project. Coordinate with cross-functional teams.
Manage and problem-solve for project risks, issues and changes while ensuring proper escalation when needed.
Coordinate and monitor activities of all stakeholders to ensure the project is completed within any time constraints.
Communicate project status to management and project stakeholders.
Conduct post-project evaluations and prepare lessons learned to improve future projects.

This position is exempt from overtime compensation for additional work hours which may be required to complete essential functions or other assigned work. Exempt employees may work more than 75 hours in a pay period without additional compensation and must report a minimum of 75 hours per pay period of work hours and/or paid leave taken to receive their base biweekly salary.
What You'll Need for Success:
You must meet the following requirements to be considered for employment:
a Bachelor's Degree and 1+ year of experience in information technology, Computer science, Business Administration or a related field, or
an Associate's Degree and 3+ years of experience in information technology, Computer science, Business Administration or a related field, or
at least 5+ years of experience in information technology, Computer science, Business Administration or a related field applying the below, outlined knowledge, skills, and abilities in a similar role.
Related certifications and coursework may be considered for education or experience.
Three (3) years of project management experience.
Advanced knowledge of project management methodologies, risk management, and estimation of resources.
Considerable knowledge and application of project management theories and practices.
Considerable knowledge of the information systems development life cycle, information technology, project tools and approaches to development and implementation.
Considerable problem solving and analytical skills.
Ability to lead project team by encouraging and influencing others to perform, as well as collaborate across departments.
Effective communication skills. Comfortable making presentations to stakeholders.
Advanced knowledge and experience of Microsoft products: Outlook, SharePoint, Word, Excel, Project, and Visio.
Able to perform essential functions with or without reasonable accommodation.
Supervisory Responsibilities/Direct Reports:
This role may serve as a team lead for an assigned work group.
