This position assists and coordinates with the Project Engineer as the lead worker over a team of employees engaged in the inspection of construction projects.
Minimum Qualifications
Possession of a high school diploma or GED plus four years of experience in construction inspection or experience in the maintenance of public streets, roads, bridges, highways, or associated structures; OR
Six months of experience in sub-professional engineering, heavy mobile equipment operation, or mobile equipment maintenance plus four years of experience in construction inspection or experience in the maintenance of public streets, roads, bridges, highways, or associated structures; OR
Twenty-four semester hours in one of the following specialized fields: architecture, cartography, construction management, construction technology, drafting, engineering, engineering graphics, engineering technology, industrial technology, landscape architecture, math, or physics; OR
A bachelor's degree in engineering, engineering technology, construction management, or construction technology; OR
Possession of an engineer intern certificate.

Job Duties and Other Information
Job Duties:
Assist Project Engineer and serve as lead worker over a team of Construction Inspectors.
Compute and review data according to specifications, plans, and special provisions established by the Department.
Review construction documents prior to construction for accuracy, completeness, and constructability.
Work with Project Engineer in developing and prioritizing training needs of lower level construction inspectors.
Position-Specific Details:
Appointment Type: This position may be filled as probational, job appointment, detail to special duty, or promotion of a current DOTD employee.
Career Progression: This position does not participate in a CPG and will be filled as a Construction Inspector 5.
Work Schedule:Full-time.
Compensation:Depends on qualifications; at minimum $25.72/hr.
