Job Title: Construction Laborer Job Description

As a Construction Laborer, you will assist carpenters, concrete crews, equipment operators, and other trades on commercial job sites. Your role will involve loading, unloading, and moving building materials, tools, and equipment. You will perform site preparation and cleanup, including debris removal, and set up and dismantle temporary structures such as scaffolding, barricades, and work platforms. Operating basic hand tools and power tools safely is crucial, as well as supporting concrete work, including mixing, pouring, vibrating, and finishing assistance. Additional duties include digging trenches, backfilling, performing general earthwork tasks, and following all safety procedures while wearing required PPE. You will complete tasks assigned by the site supervisor or foreman.

Responsibilities

Assist carpenters, concrete crews, equipment operators, and other trades on commercial job sites.

Load, unload, and move building materials, tools, and equipment.

Perform site preparation and cleanup, including debris removal.

Set up and dismantle temporary structures such as scaffolding, barricades, and work platforms.

Operate basic hand tools and power tools safely.

Support concrete work, including mixing, pouring, vibrating, and finishing assistance.

Dig trenches, backfill, and perform general earthwork tasks.

Follow all safety procedures and wear required PPE.

Complete tasks assigned by the site supervisor or foreman.

Essential Skills

At least 1 year of construction experience.

6+ months of commercial construction experience.

Ability to operate hand and power tools.

Basic carpentry skills.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

Ability to lift 50lbs.

Ability to work in the elements.

Valid driver's license with reliable transportation.

Work Environment

You will operate in a commercial construction environment, working in teams of 3-10 people on the job site. The normal working hours are 7am-4pm from Monday to Friday, although this may vary throughout the season and day. The dress code is boots, jeans, and a t-shirt or sweatshirt. Depending on the project, travel up to 60 miles from Fort Dodge may be required.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Fort Dodge, IA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $19.00 - $23.00/hr.
