What you'll be doing
The Finance Controls Testing Specialist supports Finance, Tax, Strategy and Corporate Treasury (collectively "Finance") teams by developing and executing testing for controls designed to mitigate regulatory compliance and operational process risks. Testing Specialist supports management by providing assurance that processes are designed and operating effectively, identifying and supporting remediation of testing issues, and facilitating governance and controls activities in partnership with Finance leadership.

How you'll succeed
As a member of the Finance team, you will actively manage risks to support alignment with the Bank's Risk Culture. Core accountabilities include:
Responsible for designing and executing quarterly test plan, including scoping and conducting targeted testing of key regulatory and operational process controls in accordance with enterprise requirements;
Sourcing testing populations, assessing stratification of populations based on nuances in the process, and selecting and supporting sampling methodology;
Conducting walkthroughs and asking insightful questions about process, risks and controls in order to assess design effectiveness;
Identify potential control weaknesses including their root cause, and work with business team and Independent Risk Management on designing remediation plans;
Design and deliver reporting on control testing results, themes and observations in order to provide management transparency and facilitate program enhancements;
Prepare high quality workpapers for Finance management and other stakeholders to evidence testing approach and conclusions;
Administering the GRC tool for recording testing results of key control testing, assessing and updating control attributes, and recording/maintaining deficiencies identified through testing; and
Support sustainability testing to document operating effectiveness of remediation activities.
Who you are
You possess 3-5 years of experience in compliance, operational risk, audit, or finance; preference for experience within a regulated financial services organization
You have a Bachelor's degree, ideally in Accounting, Finance, Business or Management
You show strong interpersonal, written, verbal and presentation skills; ability to articulate complex issues concisely and communicate effectively and comfortably with senior leadership
You possess relationship building and stakeholder management skills
You have the ability to execute tasks under aggressive targets and effectively manage to change in plans
You portray strong initiative, energy and confidence competing projects with limited supervision
At CIBC, we offer a competitive total rewards package. This role has an expected salary range of $70,000.00 - $90,000.00K for the Chicago, IL market based on experience, qualifications, and location of the position. The successful candidate may be eligible to participate in the relevant business unit's incentive compensation plan, which may also include a discretionary bonus component.
