POSITION PURPOSE:
Provide professional inventory management expertise to ensure that TVA's material needs are satisfied at the lowest total ownership cost to TVA. Review material request, establish appropriate stock levels, and manage TVA's materials and spare parts inventory. Utilize tools and analysis to manage TVA's inventory as a virtual shared inventory, and establish shared inventories for common parts, identify opportunities for cost savings, and coordinate with supply chain and site personnel with the goal of achieving cost reductions while maintaining adequate parts availability to support power generation and transmission. Ensure that appropriate nuclear quality guidelines are followed to allow use in safety-related applications.

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:
Implement inventory management strategies and initiatives to satisfy TVA material needs at the lowest total ownership cost for TVA.
Review all material requests (non-item number description only and item number requests) to validate need, identify existing inventory within TVA to satisfy the need, identify opportunities for reverse engineering or other savings opportunities, initiate purchase request, and determine the appropriate category (inventory, non-stock, etc.), and review for addition to shared inventory.
Utilize tools and analysis to review and set reorder parameters (Reorder Point and Target Max) on daily reorder notices, and revise as appropriate to account for changes in lead times and demand, or review / revise on a programmatic basis to implement new inventory management strategies.
Review all reorder notices and make decisions to create a purchase requisition, create a transfer request, create a pick request, or cancel/revise the reorder. Make adjustments as appropriate based on the reorder review.
Review all new item requests to ensure appropriate descriptions and information needed to support catalog health, populating the Material Classification panel with the appropriate Stock Type, Reorder Point, Target Max, and Auto Calc, Auto Restocking, and Auto Requisition designations. Also establish the appropriate criticality codes for new items, and coordinate with PE as appropriate to satisfy quality requirements.
Review all returns to stock, making decisions with existing guidelines; review inventory for potential surplus in conjunction with site personnel and identify appropriately in the system for disposition; review request to transfer material to other user locations.
Work with PE to establish generic item numbers to increase commonality, and also review nuclear items for commercial grade
Coordinate with Financial Services and plant personnel to manage inventory value, ensure inventory practices and transactions confirm to accounting standards and procedures, and help drive performance improvement
Provide inventory analysis information and recommendations and help facilitate regular (at least monthly) site inventory review committee (SIRC) meetings to coordinate approval of changes to inventory value.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Education- Bachelor's degree in a business-related discipline with five years of experience in professional level materials management activities, or Associate degree in a business related discipline with seven years of experience in professional level materials management activities, or ten years of experience in professional level materials management activities.

Certification/License, etc- Certification by the American Production and Inventory Control Society (APICS) is desirable.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities- This position requires knowledge of materials management information systems, inventory control principles and techniques, proficiency in the use of PC's, excellent oral/written communication skills, and demonstrated project management expertise. Candidate may be required to obtain and maintain a security clearance based on position / access requirements and essential job functions.
