Job Description Alternative Investment Product Specialist What is the opportunity? You will join a dynamic, growing business line within RBC Wealth Management US. The Private Markets Specialist drives alternative investments adoption through private markets and product expertise, building advisor awareness with a comprehensive marketing and events strategy, and implements new capabilities and processes. You will partner frequently with product sponsors, advisors and end clients, and with colleagues across the RBC enterprise. You will lead the development of educational campaigns, sales tools and marketing materials, represent the alternatives platform with advisors and recruits, and manage multiple vendor relationships. In addition, you will collaborate with other members of the alternative investments team, as well as other departments to ensure proper relationships are established and maintained to provide the necessary and appropriate products and services for use by the US Wealth Management Private Client Group. What will you do? Maintain an in-depth understanding of the wealth management and private markets landscape to develop and execute strategies that ensure that the alternatives platform evolves with market changes and is positioned to offer attractive options to meet RBC client needs. Support our business development efforts and field consulting team through product and market expertise, creation of sales ideas, data-driven internal and external alternative product campaigns, and advisor/client case management. Develop a strong understanding of RBC's solution set and business practices, and present RBC's alternatives capabilities to existing advisors as well as recruits who may consider moving their practice to RBC. Develop strong relationships with RBC's research team and fund managers. Influence pipeline activities with research and analysis, offering perspective around the needs of advisors and recruits relative to prospective additions to the platform. Respond to advisor referrals to external fund managers with advisor education, and introductory calls as needed. Coordinate the alternative investment team's activities throughout the fundraise lifecycle, from initial diligence through onboarding, launch, and capital raising. Develop a post-close analysis and off cycle marketing plan for each capital raise. Plan and execute national and regional RBC events that educate and build on the adoption of private market alternatives. Promote and coordinate RBC participation in sponsor-led events and industry conferences. What do you need to succeed? Must-have 5-10 years of alternative investments experience, and keen acumen for the broader financial industry Knowledge of alternative manager universe and ability to speak to the key benefits and risks of a wide range of alternative investment strategies Experience developing and executing business marketing strategy in a multi-faceted B2B environment Strong project management and event planning coordination Advanced PowerPoint skills, and ability to synthetize clear visual messages from a variety of complex materials. Passion for private markets, self-directed, and a strong customer service orientation Ability to travel Undergraduate degree (with preferred concentration in finance, economics, business administration, marketing, communication) Preferred: Experience within private wealth and/or broker-dealer Advanced degree (MBA) or industry designations (CFA, CAIA) Securities industry licenses 7, 63 and 65, or series 66; or willingness to become licensed. You have the potential to earn more through RBC's discretionary variable compensation program which gives you an opportunity to increase your total compensation, provided the business meets its performance targets and you meet your individual goals.
