FOR PART-TIME ADULT EDUCATION CDL TRAINING COORDINATOR / LEAD INSTRUCTOR
QUALIFICATIONS
? Minimum of five years of verifiable, recent commercial driving experience required.
? Possession of a valid Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with an acceptable driving record is required.
? At least two years of instructional or supervisory experience in CDL training, transportation, or related fields is preferred but not required.
? Strong working knowledge of FMCSA Entry-Level Driver Training (ELDT) standards, state testing procedures, and compliance documentation.
? Demonstrated ability to coordinate training operations, oversee instructors, and maintain program quality and safety standards.
? Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills with the ability to manage instructional staff and engage adult learners.
? Availability to fulfill part-time instructional and administrative hours, which may include weekdays, evenings, or weekends, as determined by Tri-Rivers Career Center's schedule.
? Must hold or be able to obtain an appropriate Adult Education Ohio Department of Education license or credential.
GENERAL DUTIES
The Part-Time CDL Training Coordinator / Lead Instructor will oversee the daily operations of the CDL program, ensuring high-quality instruction and compliance with FMCSA and Tri-Rivers Career Center standards. This position includes both teaching and administrative responsibilities, including scheduling coordination, instructor support, vehicle maintenance oversight, and student progression tracking.
Key duties include:
? Coordinating program logistics, schedules, and instructor assignments.
? Providing direct instruction and supervision for CDL students in classroom, range, and road settings.
? Ensuring the program maintains full compliance with all state and federal CDL training and reporting requirements.
? Serving as the primary point of contact between CDL staff, administration, and external partners.

SPECIFIC DUTIES
Program Coordination & Compliance
? Oversee daily CDL training operations, including class scheduling, instructor coverage, and student progression.
? Ensure compliance with FMCSA ELDT and Ohio Department of Public Safety requirements for training documentation and recordkeeping.
? Maintain current training records, lesson plans, and driver qualification files in accordance with institutional and regulatory standards.
? Coordinate vehicle inspections, maintenance, and repair schedules in collaboration with maintenance and administrative staff.
? Serve as liaison with testing facilities, state auditors, and external partners related to CDL program oversight.
Curriculum & Instruction
? Provide direct classroom, range, and behind-the-wheel instruction aligned with Tri-Rivers Career Center's approved CDL curriculum.
? Support instructors with instructional materials, training resources, and lesson planning assistance.
? Evaluate curriculum effectiveness and recommend updates to align with industry trends and compliance changes.
Instructor Supervision & Support
? Mentor and support CDL instructors in instructional delivery, safety compliance, and student assessment.
? Conduct periodic observations of instructional sessions to ensure quality, consistency, and adherence to training standards.
? Provide input on instructor evaluations and professional development needs.
Student Support & Assessment
? Monitor student progress and ensure training documentation accurately reflects readiness for testing.
? Conduct performance evaluations, pre-trip inspections, and road test simulations.
? Provide individualized coaching and remediation to students who require additional training.
