Asset Based Finance Group (ABF)
MUFG Bank's (MUBK) ABF group is one of the essential go-to-market products for MUBK in North America, and is housed within MUBK's Global Corporate and Investment Banking division. It is an important financing tool for supporting clients' needs. The ABF group delivers full services-based capabilities to MUBK's clients including origination, underwriting and portfolio management, syndication and agency qualification. The ABF team is active across a range of client business sectors throughout the U.S.
Overall Purpose of Job:
The Portfolio Management function within MUBK's ABF group is responsible for the oversight of a portfolio of asset based lending clients situated throughout the US, evaluating the creditworthiness of the clients on an ongoing basis, monitoring the collateral that supports all credit exposure, and initiating or supporting revenue growth efforts.
Job Summary / Major Responsibilities:
Monitoring borrower financial performance on an ongoing basis
Prepare detailed credit analyses and required credit application according to policy, including evaluation of loan purpose and structure, repayment sources, corporate, regulatory and industry risk, liquidity, asset protection, historical and projected operating performance and capital structure
Evaluating monthly collateral information to insure that adequate collateral is available to cover outstanding obligations
Recommending and implementing the appropriate course of action when borrower financial performance or collateral adequacy becomes an issue
Performing the necessary due diligence to provide timely responses to requests for additional credit
Ensuring that the bank's collateral is regularly appraised, field exams are conducted to evaluate the quality of the collateral and underlying collateral controls, and that adjustments are made if any issues arise from those appraisals or exams
Ensuring that the internal and regulatory risk ratings for borrowers remain accurate, and recommending adjustments when a material change in the credit profile has become evident
Closely monitoring troubled credits and participating in internal meetings to review performance and exposure strategy
Contributing to the bank's revenue growth goals by working closely with coverage RMs, product partners, and ABF origination staff to enhance MUFG's importance to the borrower either through cross sell efforts or pitch to lead presentations
Periodic discussions with Agents, if necessary, to get borrower updates, amend & extend requests, and amendments
Work with senior staff to coordinate loan proposals and loan underwriting, including complex scenarios with high profile clients
Will also assist with the preparation for various internal and external examinations and audits and all compliance and operational aspects of the business
Requirements:
A Bachelor's degree, ideally with a business major. A CFA Level 1, 2 or 3 or an MBA is a plus
A minimum of 2 to 3 years of relevant corporate financial analysis experience; with specific experience in asset-based lending a plus
A career track as a corporate finance professional with a credit and analytical background
Some background with loan documentation is a plus
Completion of a formal credit-training program at either a money center, large national, or super regional bank is a plus
Strong written and interpersonal communication skills
Financial modeling and analytical skills using MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
Excellent analytic and quantitative skills
The typical base pay range for this role is between $135 - $155K and depending on job-related knowledge, skills, experience and location. This role may also be eligible for certain discretionary performance-based bonus and/or incentive compensation.
