Supply Chain/Procurement Manager

Description We are looking for an experienced Supply Chain/Procurement Manager to join our team on a contract basis in Kansas City, Missouri. This position is critical for maintaining operational stability during a transitional period and will play a key role in managing procurement activities and supporting the modernization of policies and systems. The role offers an excellent opportunity to utilize your expertise in procurement and leadership while collaborating with internal stakeholders.

Responsibilities:

Oversee the entire procurement lifecycle, including sourcing, vendor negotiations, contract management, and compliance with municipal codes and state regulations.

Address and resolve procurement backlogs, ensuring timely completion of pending tasks.

Utilize tools such as DocuSign, PeopleSoft, and Bonfire to streamline sourcing and contract processes.

Review existing procurement policies and procedures to identify areas for improvement and recommend updates.

Contribute to the transition to Workday by aligning system configurations and workflows with best practices.

Lead a team of Procurement Specialists, offering guidance, mentorship, and support.

Partner with the returning Procurement Manager to ensure knowledge transfer and a smooth operational transition.

Collaborate with stakeholders to maintain stability and continuity during organizational changes.

Develop and implement sourcing strategies for construction, commodities, and specialized services.

Ensure adherence to internal standards and procurement protocols throughout all processes. Requirements - Minimum of 3 years of experience in procurement or supply chain management.

Proficiency in tools such as Microsoft Excel, Oracle PeopleSoft, and Workday.

Strong knowledge of supply chain logistics and management practices.

Experience managing purchase requests and vendor negotiations.

Familiarity with global supply chain operations and industry standards.

Ability to lead and mentor a team effectively.

In-depth understanding of municipal procurement codes and state regulations.

Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills for addressing backlogs and implementing improvements.
