The Louisiana Office of Juvenile Justice (OJJ) is committed to protecting the public by providing safe and effective individualized services to youth, helping them become productive, law-abiding citizens. Our Legal Section plays a critical role in ensuring compliance with state and federal law, supporting agency operations, and representing OJJ in complex legal matters. The Attorney 4 serves as a senior attorney within OJJ's Legal Section. This role involves handling the most complex legal issues, providing expert counsel, and representing the agency in litigation, administrative hearings, and policy development. The Attorney 4 functions with a high level of independence and may supervise lower-ranking attorneys
Minimum Qualifications
Possession of a current Louisiana license to practice law plus three years of experience as a practicing attorney.

Job Duties and Other Information
Job Duties:
Civil Service & Employee Relations Lead attorney for internal disciplinary processes, including reviewing investigative reports, maintaining disciplinary records, drafting and approving disciplinary letters, settlement agreements, and representing OJJ in Civil Service hearings and appeals.
Juvenile Hearings & Litigation Represent the Deputy Secretary in complex litigation before federal, state, and city courts. Prepare motions, pleadings, briefs, and appellate work; interview staff, youth, and witnesses; provide legal counsel to regional offices and facilities.
Additional Duties
Review criminal records of potential detention center employees.
Analyze and interpret legislation impacting the agency; serve on committees as needed.
Provide assistance to other agency attorneys and serve as Ethics Liaison.
Conduct training on disciplinary processes.
Perform other duties as assigned by the General Counsel.
