Millwork Designer

JSI, an LSI Industries company, is trusted by North America's leading grocery and retail brands to create innovative and eye-catching display fixtures and millwork. For more than 30 years, JSI has been designing and manufacturing its display fixtures across its four North American locations

JOB SUMMARY: Create, maintain, and update fixtures drawings, cut sheets, and other documentation to assure timely manufacturing of products to customer specifications. Contribute to continuous improvement efforts and focus on improving safety, improving quality, and reducing cost.

DUTIES:

Work closely with Sales and Engineering to ensure drawings reflect customer requirements.

Provide complete, detailed and accurate drawings to support procurement and production needs.

Prepare production information (i.e. drawings, cut lists, BOMs) that provide the necessary information for programming, machining and assembly operations.

Help to maintain a library of standard designs, drawings and specifications.

Work directly with shop floor personnel on issues and manufacturing concerns, ensuring continuous product and process improvements

Modify models/drawings based on client redlines and Engineering change requests

Value engineer and drive change to standardize and innovate while supporting Design-for-Manufacturability.

Interface with Designers to give feedback from Production that will enhance future designs.

Self-audit the Production Drafting work to reduce waste and improve the quality

REQUIREMENTS:

The Ideal candidate will have good organizational skills, the ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment, excellent verbal and written communication skills and experience in problem solving in a team environment.

Experience in SolidWorks, Microsoft Office, and MRP/ERP systems.

Background in drafting, millwork and cabinet design and construction.

PREFERRED:

An Associate or bachelor's degree in CADD or equivalent work experience.

Prior experience in a Lean Manufacturing environment.

Prior working experience on a millwork shop floor and/or working knowledge of how to manufacture millwork.

Prior experience with CAM programming software and wood-based machining.

JOB RELATIONSHIPS:

Reports directly to Engineering Manager

Works closely with Sales and Production

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Sedentary: Exerting up to 10 lbs. occasionally, sitting most of the time, and only brief periods of standing and walking. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

Requires minimal travel to include all locations.
