The Risk Management Claims Analyst is responsible for prompt and effective investigation, evaluation and resolution of claims covered by American Airlines Group Inc.'s insurance programs. Monitor and evaluate reported claims to assure compliance with American's claims handling standards and best practices. Also responsible for maintaining effective relationships with third party claim administrators, insurance carriers and defense counsel, In Flight, Airport Operations, Safety, Legal, Customer Relations and Corporate Communications.

Analyzes and manages claims by investigating and gathering information to determine the exposure on the claim; manages claims through well-developed action plans to an appropriate and timely resolution.
Assesses liability and resolves claims within evaluation.
Ensures claim files are properly documented and claims coding is correct.
Communicates timely within 24 to 48 hours and provides claim activity updates to claimant professionally.
Calculate and assign timely and appropriate reserves to claims; manage reserves adequacy throughout the life of the claim.
Negotiates settlement of claims within designated authority limit.
Ensures timely and effective case resolution to determine early case resolution.
Review and approve all legal invoices for compliance with American's claims handling standards and best practices.
Manage the litigation process to retain, monitor, and manage outside counsel, assisting in the discovery process, and attend legal proceedings as needed.
Manage claim recoveries when appropriate including but not limited to subrogation.
Participate in claim file roundtables.
Reports files to insurer at the requisite reporting threshold amount.
Participates in formal claim reviews with insurer.
Complete Index/ISO reporting, background checks, and mandatory Medicare reporting.
Interpret contracts and seek contribution for claims against vendors and service providers.
Keep management updated.
Performs other duties as assigned.
All you'll need for success
Minimum Qualifications- Education & Prior Job Experience
Bachelor's degree, or other equivalent
At least 5 years of multi-line claims adjusting experience
Preferred Qualifications- Education & Prior Job Experience
Texas-licensed claim adjuster preferred
Skills, Licenses & Certifications
Ability to analyze and effectively communicate complex insurance claims
Ability to work with minimal supervision
Excellent oral and written communication skills
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Superior judgment and excellent negotiation skills
Proficiency in PC applications such as Excel, Word and PowerPoint
Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills, able to work well under deadlines in a changing environment and perform multiple tasks effectively and concurrently.
Ability to function at a high level of professionalism with claimants, claimant attorney, internal & external stakeholders, and defense attorneys.
Experience handling litigation related claims is a must.
Airline industry, leisure & hospitality experience is a plus.
Ability to work effectively under pressure and within a collaborative team-oriented environment using sound judgment and decision-making.
