Collins Aerospace is looking for an Operations Manager to support our advanced cargo handling systems in Jamestown, ND. Our advanced cargo systems help to quickly move cargo through the main deck and lower deck of an aircraft. Systems include ball transfer units, power drive units, control systems, freighter common turntables, centerline restraints, bumpers, unicaster panels, door sill assemblies and rollout stops. These components work together to convey and secure cargo within an aircraft for fast and easy loading and unloading. As a manager, you would lead a team, support and/or production level or hourly/direct employees in Manufacturing Operations. Sets day-to-day activities and assists in managing and monitoring production operations, maintenance, plant engineering, scheduling and personnel.
This position will support a 4X10 schedule (Monday - Thursday) and is eligible for relocation.
What You Will Do
Team leader for Machine Shop assigned work centers.
Direct supervision for Machinists and Machine Operators in assigned area.
Completion of daily pitch walks and tie-ins for machine shop as well as Lead Daily Tiered Huddles and frequent Gemba Walks to make production issues visible and engage operators in real-time problem-solving.
Ensure direct reports are trained and up to date in required processes and tasks.
Maintain cross training matrix for direct reports and actively address gaps in training thresholds.
Talent management of direct reports including development of employee performance objectives and execution of annual review process.
Drive towards zero safety incidents and promote safety first culture.
Drive towards zero quality issues in assigned area, drive an increase in quality output resulting from standardized operator-led improvements.
Active management of environmental, health, and safety compliance and risk in assembly areas.
Execute to Machine Shop budget for labor, tools, and materials, manage department spending for tooling and supplies within budget, identifying cost-reduction opportunities such as redundant tooling and optimizing tooling packages.
Support Company initiatives on inventory levels.
Adhere to and promote the RTX People Philosophy in the workplace.
Identifies and participates in continuous improvement activities in the Machine Shop.
Champion a "no-blame" environment focused on safety, where errors are treated as data points for system improvement rather than cause for discipline, Lead and support continuous improvement initiatives including MFA, QCPC, process maturity, and 5S for assigned area.
Coach and mentor machinists in Lean Tools (e.g., 5S, Standard Work, SMED) to increase the "Improvement IQ" of the entire shift.
Qualifications You Must Have
Typically requires a University Degree and a minimum of 8 years of prior relevant experience, or an Advanced Degree and 5 years of experience.
Qualifications We Prefer
Strong understanding of manufacturing procedures, processes, and tools, aerospace or machining experience ideal
Basic understanding of manufacturing bills of material and MRP systems preferred.
General computer skills and ability to work with O365 tools
Strong organizational skills along with excellent written and oral communication skills.

The salary range for this role is 107,500 USD - 204,500 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels.
