Overview The Director of Finance & Tax Operations manages day-to-day accounting, cash, and tax operations for a growing, multi-entity organization. This role builds and runs the company’s finance infrastructure, working closely with executive leadership and external accounting and tax advisors. This is a hands-on position responsible for turning operating agreements and commercial arrangements into clear accounting, cash-flow, and tax processes.
Responsibilities Financial Management - Own daily accounting operations across multiple entities, including AP/AR, journal entries, reconciliations, and month-end and year-end close.
- Prepare consolidated financial statements, management reports, and dashboards.
- Build and improve financial processes, controls, and reporting tools suited to a scaling organization.
- Manage cash-flow forecasting, liquidity planning, and working capital analysis.
- Ensure compliance with U.S. GAAP and partnership accounting standards.
Tax Operations & Compliance - Coordinate federal, state, and local tax compliance (K-1s, 1099s, sales/use tax) with external CPA firms.
- Maintain tax calendars, monitor state nexus and registration requirements, and support audits or inquiries.
- Oversee partnership allocations and basis tracking in line with operating agreements.
Cash Flow & Revenue Operations - Manage daily cash activity, including revenue collections, vendor payments, and capital contributions or distributions.
- Administer revenue-sharing, management fees, commissions, and intercompany transactions.
- Monitor contractual accuracy and proper tax treatment of payments.
- Maintain flexible forecasts for project-based or uneven cash flows.
Reporting & Collaboration - Prepare monthly and quarterly financial and tax reporting for leadership and investors.
- Work with legal counsel and leadership to translate agreements into practical finance and tax workflows.
- Support leadership and investor presentations with financial analysis and summaries.
Qualifications - Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Tax; CPA strongly preferred.
- 7–10+ years of experience in senior accounting, controllership, or tax operations within multi-entity or partnership structures.
- Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP, partnership accounting, and consolidations; ASC 740 exposure is a plus.
- Experience building finance processes in high-growth or early-stage environments.
- Comfortable working with executive leadership, external CPA firms, and lean teams.
