Summary Employee will serve as the Assistant Hospital Housekeeping Officer at the New Jersey Health Care Systems responsible for planning, developing, organizing, staffing , controlling , directing and evaluation complex environmental programs. Responsibilities THIS IS NOT A VIRTUAL POSITION, YOU MUST LIVE WITHIN OR BE WILLING TO RELOCATE WITHIN A COMMUTABLE DISTANCE OF THE DUTY LOCATION Duties may include, but are not limited to the following: Extensive knowledge of advanced sanitation programs. Analytical ability to research, assemble and compile information and data, evaluate the results against appropriate standards and recommend corrective action where indicated. Planning, organizing, conducting, and managing an effective housekeeping and laundry program in order to provide a safe environment for patients, staff, and visitors. Accountable for the proper, reporting, and tracking of facility generated hazardous and biological waste. Responsible for purchasing, issuing, replacing, and processing uniforms. This process includes the collection of soiled safety apparel and processing of all special-purpose clothing. Communicating effectively in order to justify program plans and goals to higher management and to motivate staff. Maintaining a complete orientation and training program for all housekeeping staff. Providing daily Environmental Sanitation coverage to designated patient and nonpatient care areas. Responsible for reporting waste management plans and policies to the appropriate department for review and approval, if required. Certifying all transaction made by the card holder and assuring applicable documentation is maintained. Ability to identify pest infestations, recognize common insect pests, and able to make recommendations to eliminate infestations and take measures to correct environmental and health discrepancies related to pest management. Supervises laundry/linen and housekeeping personnel. Trains, counsels, evaluates, and promotes the growth of employees within a program. Prepares, maintains, and monitors work plans for staff utilization. Performs all other duties as assigned. Qualifications SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Requires one full year of specialized experience that equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled. To be creditable, specialized experience must have been equivalent to at least the next lower grade level (GS-9) in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Specialized experience in two or more of the following areas, or other work related to the position to be filled: Routinely inspect all areas of the medical center for cleanliness. Ensures facility compliance within area of responsibility with Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), Hospital Housekeeping Office, and other regulatory entities. Implements and manages Environmental Management Services (EMS) budget. Monitors the use of purchases made within the service and certifies all procurements are legal and proper. Develops appropriate performance standards and evaluates work performance of subordinates based on these standards. OR Education Graduate Education: Major study -- public health or business administration with emphasis in hospital administration. COMBINATION OF EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE (TRANSCRIPT REQUIRED): I have equivalent combinations of successfully completed graduate-level education (in excess of 2 years) and specialized experience may be used to meet total qualification requirements.
