Accounting Manager

The Accounting Manager records financial transactions, manages ledgers, reconciles accounts, and prepares financial reports. The Accounting Manager also ensures accuracy of financial data, tracks expenses and revenue, processes payroll, 401K and assists the CFO and Accountants by providing needed financial data.

Duties and responsibilities

Financial Closing and Reporting

Review financial data to ensure accuracy

Ensure accurate and timely monthly financial closing within 7 business days

Prepare monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements as well as address routine and ad hoc information requests

Proactively review financial results for reasonableness and accuracy

Evaluate critical financial balances and provide timely updates against budgeted expectations

Develop reporting to give visibility to detailed profitability analysis

Prepare financial reports for CFO and Accountants

Management of Accounting Transaction and Financial Controls

Record financial transactions using AccountMate (AM)

Perform journal entries as needed

Manage Accounts Payable / Accounts Receivable / Collections

Management of AP/AR Specialist including training, hiring & firing

Maintain the Chart of Accounts

Maintain and develop internal financial control policies, guidelines and procedures (FOPs)

Maintain relationships with banking, insurance and nonorganizational accounting personnel to facilitate financial activities as necessary

Coordinate financial audits of company accounts and financial transactions to ensure compliance with State and Federal requirements.

Process Payroll

Respond to Unemployment Claims

Track & Pay Sales Commission

Company Banking -- Reconciliations, ACH, Wire Transfers

401K Administration

Provide data needed for corporate insurance audits

Provide COI when necessary

Foster a culture of continuous improvement, curiosity and a proactive approach to problem-solving

Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Five years + bookkeeping / accounting experience required

Experience in financial management and accounting within a manufacturing or distribution industry preferred

Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance or related field preferred.

Strong analytical skills and experience with financial reporting, forecasting and budgeting

Strong knowledge of ERP systems

Moderate to advanced Excel skills

Self-starter, who is just as comfortable working autonomously as with a team.

Corporate culture-focused, bringing enthusiasm to the office and offering up new ideas and programs.

Experience with Crystal Reports is very helpful

Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Excellent interpersonal, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills.

Ability to multitask to complete a wide variety of tasks.

Ability to act with integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality.

Physical requirements

This position is primarily sedentary and regularly works in an office environment with office equipment noise and interruptions. Physical requirements of this position are consistent with those of a regular office; prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer, regular use of hands, fingers, reading/seeing/hearing and talking/communicating. Occasional periods of standing/walking, kneeling/bending/stooping, climbing stairs and lifting up to 15 lbs.
