Legal Assistant - Litigation

The Legal Assistant-Litigation provides comprehensive administrative and clerical support to in-house litigation counsel, attorneys, and legal teams. This role involves gathering relevant documents, preparing legal documents, maintaining case files and calendars, and managing internal and external communications.

Responsibilities:

Assist attorneys in handling of litigation, claims and investigations.

Collect, examine, and organize documents from personnel throughout the Company for attorney review and case preparation.

Coordinate with third-party claims administrators and insurers.

Respond to subpoenas.

Assist attorneys in responding to discovery requests.

Assist Company personnel with local collection/lien matters.

Prepare legal documents, including demand letters, notice letters, responses and form pleadings for review by attorneys.

Process legal invoices and purchase orders for legal department.

Create and maintain database files in the legal department matter management system and produce periodic reports.

Maintain litigation calendar using matter managment software

Maintain physical files in accordance with document retention procedures.

Basic Qualifications:

High school diploma or General Education Development (GED) is required; paralegal training or a college degree is a plus.

Minimum 3 years of experience as a litigation assistant/paralegal in a law firm or corporate law department is highly preferred

Consideration is given to relevant experience and related certification
