Join the MercyOne Family! We are looking to hire a Care Coordinator in our MercyOne Genesis Bettendorf Orthopedics Care Clinic
As a Care Coordinator at MercyOne, you will Contribute to the success of the Department of Orthopedics & Rehabilitation providing services for the Work Injury Recovery Center. Responsibilities include coordinating the Work Injury Recovery Center provider clinics, completing Worker's Compensation forms and requests, analyzing Worker's Compensation data, managing work comp insurance related issues, serving as primary point of contact for outside nurse case managers, and coordinating with both internal to MercyOne and external work comp customer teams for optimization of workflow.

General Requirements:
Position Responsibilities: Responsible for non-medical, administrative management of specialized worker's compensation patient.
Assist in communication and resolution of return-to-work issues and conflicts between employers and patients by communicating with WIRC providers, patients, employers, PT/ergonomics evaluators, outside nurse case managers.
Assist in patient care management, which requires complex clinical management, in conjunction with WIRC providers and non-ortho clinic staff, as well as outside case managers, insurers, and third-party administrators.
Assist in responding to requests for opinions on causation of injuries and need for treatment, acquiring cost estimates for recommended treatments for insurers, and other requirements of WIRC patients for authorizing and scheduling orthopedic procedures.
Assist as a liaison between WIRC providers and the payors to ensure patient's postoperative needs are met by communicating the provider's wishes and assist with facilitation of the same
Assist WIRC providers drafting written communications for insurers, attorneys, and patients, as well as responding to CRMs.
Coordinate WIRC outreach with employers and attend state and regional meetings in a marketing capacity.
Work collaboratively with nursing clinic staff and non-clinic WIRC teammates in serving complex patient and provider care actions
Education:
Bachelor's degree in Nursing or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience is required.
Current license to practice nursing.
1-3 years of clinical experience.
Experience coordinating care along the healthcare continuum.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Must be proficient in MS Office computer software applications.
Experience providing customer service in a direct or in direct manner working with patients, care providers, case managers, or insurance carriers.
Desirable Qualifications
Experience working in orthopedic clinics and knowledge of orthopedic terminology.
Working knowledge of practices, tools, and considerations for managing claims processing.
Experience with management of musculoskeletal injuries.
Working knowledge of University policies, procedures and regulations.
Certification in Case Management or Certification in Occupational Health Nursing.
