Summary The primary purpose of this position is to serve as a File Clerk for the CTVHCS. He/She is responsible for the daily task related to patient medical records. This position is located in the Health Information Management in the Central Texas Veterans Health Care System, Temple, Texas. Responsibilities Major duties include, but not limited to: Receives, reviews, indexes, and uploads medical documentation received from VA providers and Non-VA providers incorporates the document into the correct veteran's record using the Computerized Patient Record System (CPRS). Utilizes the appropriate computer application (VistA, Fee Basis Claims System Doc Manager, and National VA contractor portal) to retrieve and index/upload medical documentation. Reviews medical documents from Non-VA facilities, CBOCs, and VA. Attaches the indexed/uploaded documents to a progress note viewable in CPRS, Ensures all necessary health/administration information is integrated into VistA through VistA Imaging software, utilizing PC/VistA application bridges. Ensures results for stat or emergent requests are indexed/uploaded within established timeframes. Ensures appropriate disposition of hard copy documents once indexing/uploading of documents has been verified utilizing appropriate shred boxes or Records Management directives. Performs any related administrative duties not specifically described herein or any other duties as assigned related to Health Information Management Section or the mission of the service. This experience must be progressively responsible clerical, office, or other work that indicates your ability to acquire the particular knowledge and skills needed to perform the duties of the File Clerk position.
