DESCRIPTION OF WORK Under the direct supervision of a licensed nurse, you will assist residents in accordance with their individualized care plans. Duties include monitoring and recording vital signs, height, and weight, as well as collecting specimens such as urine, feces, and sputum. You will demonstrate compassion and respect as you assist with basic personal hygiene tasks, including hair, oral, and nail care, as well as bathing and dressing. Other daily tasks include making beds, distributing linens, serving food trays, assisting with feeding, and recording care and services performed. Additionally, you maintain a safe environment for residents and strictly follow infection control procedures and universal health care precautions.

Work Schedule and Additional Information: Full-time employment, 12.5 hour shifts, 37.5 hours per week Work hours are 7:00 AM to 8:00 PM, rotating schedule and working every other weekend, with a 30-minute lunch. Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position. DMVA is pleased to announce the launch of a Nursing Referral Program, promoting the hiring and retention of nursing staff at Pennsylvania's veterans homes. Under this program, both referring employees and referred candidates may be eligible for payments of up to $4,000. Salary:In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable. REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Experience and Training Requirements: Active registration as a Nurse Aide in the Pennsylvania Nurse Aide Registry; or Six months of paid experience in the care and treatment of geriatric or physically ill patients or residents. This position is assigned to a long-term or specialized care facility and requires active registration as a Nurse Aide in the Pennsylvania Nurse Aide Registry.

Legal Requirements: A conditional offer of employment will require a medical examination. This position falls under the provisions of the Older Adult Protective Services Act. Under the Act, a conditional offer of employment will require submission and approval of satisfactory criminal history reports, including but not limited to, PA State Police and FBI clearance.
