Payroll Accountant

Description We are looking for a skilled Payroll Accountant to join our team on a contract basis in Secaucus, New Jersey. In this role, you will handle payroll tax compliance and reporting, ensuring accuracy and adherence to regulations across multiple jurisdictions. This position requires exceptional attention to detail, confidentiality, and proficiency in payroll systems and tax processes.

Responsibilities:

Establish and manage new tax jurisdictions, including obtaining necessary tax withholding and compliance documentation.

Collaborate with the Tax & Compliance Manager to audit, upload, and verify quarterly and annual tax filings using payroll systems or external vendors.

Provide support for quarter-end, year-end, and annual tax reporting activities.

Communicate with federal, state, and local agencies to confirm tax credit eligibility and track pending credits.

Reconcile payroll clearing accounts, oversee tax amendments, and address tax authority refunds and setup issues within payroll systems.

Prepare and organize documentation for both internal and external audit processes. Requirements - Demonstrated ability to maintain strict confidentiality when handling sensitive payroll and employee data.

2-3 years of experience with multi-state payroll tax processes, including knowledge of W2 and W2c forms.

At least one year of hands-on experience with UKG Pro payroll software.

Advanced proficiency in Excel, including skills in formatting, formulas, pivot tables, and lookup tables.

Exceptional attention to detail and ability to follow through on tasks.

Strong organizational and communication skills, with the ability to convey information effectively.

Familiarity with various wage withholding @types and processes is preferred but not mandatory.

Experience with UKG BI reporting tools is a plus.
