Description:

The Pharmacy Operations Manager (Inpatient) at Loyola University Medical Center is responsible for management of various pharmacy service areas that may include clinical and patient care services, surgery centers, pharmacy satellites, sterile and hazardous products compounding, and other aspects related to the delivery of pharmacy services. Their responsibilities include management of day-to-day operations; process or program design, improvement, implementation and maintenance; financial and human resource management; strategic planning; and quality assessment and improvement. They continually evaluate progress toward objectives and maintain efficient and effective day-to-day operations.

Position responsibilities:

PLANNING:

Provides meaningful input to directors and executive leadership engaged in strategic planning activities. Analyzes environmental issues as well as quality and financial data in order to assist in developing systematic plans for achievement of goals. Adapts goals and plans to provide response to the environment and successfully meet challenging, but achievable goals. Additional duties as assigned.

PHARMACY SERVICE:

Ensure that pharmacy services meet the needs of internal and external stakeholders. Acts as a key contact person for nursing, medical, and other professional staff. Serves as a resource for employee decision making and develops individuals for pharmacy leadership positions. Develops and implements strategies to improve stakeholder satisfaction. Participates in inter- and intradepartmental meetings, committees, and task forces as required.

PHARMACY COMPLIANCE:

Ensure compliance to all state/federal regulatory agencies and accreditation bodies pertaining to medication management processes. This includes: A. Maintaining an awareness of current regulations and standards which effects pharmaceutical operations throughout LUHS. B. Identifying areas of risk and implements activities to reduce exposure to noncompliance. C. Ensuring that variances are documented, investigated, and resolved. D. Effectively collaborating with professional staff (ie. medical, nursing, and pharmacy) to develop, implement, and monitor quality improvement projects. Ensures that assigned units meet or exceed regulatory requirements established by The Joint Commission (TJC), Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH), The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS), and other licensing/accrediting agencies.

PHARMACY SYSTEMS:

Facilitate the development, implementation, and maintenance of systems that promote positive patient outcomes through the use of safe, cost-effective drug therapies. Work with the Director of Pharmacy Services to improve pharmacy processes, systems, and budgetary performance.

PERFORMANCE IMPROVEMENT:

In collaboration with clinical leadership, assists in establishing standards and strategic initiatives for quality patient care which focus on a goal of positive patient outcomes.

Routinely measures and monitors the well-being of assigned patient population; creates and manages processes which contribute to continual performance improvement. Actively supports and promotes the Lean journey within areas of responsibility.

FINANCIAL MANAGEMENT:

Assists in the development of annual budget to ensure appropriate allocation of resources to support operations and meet departmental goals. Manages operational budget including revenue, expenses, staff levels and capital equipment sufficient to meet current and projected patient volume or service requirements.

What's required:

Bachelor's degree in Pharmacy (BS) or Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD)

Pharmacy Residency PGY1 or PGY2 preferred

3 5 years of previous job-related experience. 6 -10 years preferred.

Licensure/Certifications:

Registered Pharmacist required.

Preferred:

ACLS (Advanced Cardio Life Support Certified) CPR (Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation)

PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)

Compensation:

Pay range: $128,003- $211,203

Actual compensation will fall within the range but may vary based on factors such as experience, qualifications, education, location, licensure, certification requirements, and comparisons to colleagues in similar roles.
