The Texas General Land Office is seeking a Auditor I (Minerals Auditor) within the Energy Resources Department of the agency.The Minerals Auditor performs entry-level to routine (journey-level) auditing work. The agency does so by preserving our history, maximizing state revenue through innovative administration, and through the prudent stewardship of state lands and natural resources.What Your Contributions to the GLO Will be:and#183; Performs audits and limited reviews that are entry-level to routine (journey-level) in nature as assigned in compliance with applicable standards and time frames for completion, ensuring effective communication with the audited companies, GLO personnel and other relevant parties.and#8194;and#8194;and#8194;and#8194;and#183; Researches, reconciles and audits various accounts related to energy resources, including reviews for lease compliance, and reports findings. and#8194;and#8194;and#8194;and#8194;and#8194;and#183; Prepares or assists in preparing audit reports in a timely manner and in compliance with state statutes and internal regulations. Records activities through the weekly time tracker and monthly report. Assists companies with their royalty reporting and payments using the on-line Royalty Reporting And Control system (RRAC).Develops assignment memorandum and techniques for timely completion of audit work and for ensuring efficient and effective use of time.and#8194;and#8194;and#8194;and#8194;
Qualifications: Minimum Qualifications:and#183; Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with a degree in Accounting, Business Administration, BBA-Computer Information Systems, Economics, Finance, Geology, Petroleum Engineering, or related degree.Testing:and#183; The Excel Exam will cover essential functions like using pivot tables, building formulas, and performing sorting, filtering, and formatting.Physical Requirements:This position requires the employee to primarily perform sedentary office work; however, mobility (moving around the worksite) is routinely required to carry out some duties. This position requires extensive computer, telephone and client/ customer contact and communication. It requires the ability to move and position oneself as needed for filing and similar routine office duties. The job also requires normal cognitive abilities requiring the ability to learn, recall, and apply certain practices and policies. It requires the stamina to maintain attention to detail despite interruptions. Ability to read printed materials and computer screens. The individual must be able to move and transport records, documents, boxes, and all related information and materials, weighing up to 20 pounds when required.Preferred Qualifications:and#183; Master's degree in business or accounting.and#183; 1 and#8211; 2 years full-time progressive experience participating in governmental, financial, program area, organizational, performance, policy, and/or compliance audits.and#183; 1-2 years of experience performing audits of state or federal oil and gas royalties, grants, financial statements, contracts, IT systems or governmental auditing.and#183; Experience with Workiva or other audit software.
