This position will be domiciled at the Louisiana State Penitentiary
The PE Truck Driver position is responsible for delivery of PE's finished goods and agricultural commodities statewide.
This position offers an opportunity to deliver goods and agricultural commodities across the state with opportunities to help others and further develop problem solving skills.

Minimum Qualifications
Possession of a current Louisiana Class A commercial driver's license plus two years of experience in mobile equipment operation requiring a Class A CDL driver's license.
EXPERIENCE SUBSTITUTION:
Completion of a tractor trailer driving training program will substitute for six months of the required experience.

Job Duties and Other Information
Delivery of PE's finished goods and agricultural commodities statewide primarily to state correctional facilities, with regular deliveries of commissary items (food and hygiene), meat and cheese commodities, as well as inmate clothing, which are all absolutely essential for daily prison operations. Additionally, furniture deliveries statewide requiring loading, offloading and installation. The PE Transportation division manages a fleet of approximately thirteen trucks.
Prison Enterprises is an ancillary "Enterprise Fund", operating entirely on a self-generated revenue with a staff of approximately 68, operating over 30 individual cost centers at 7 correctional facilities across this State, along with a Headquarters location in Baton Rouge. This position is vital in our ability to accurately and timely deliver PE's finished goods and agricultural commodities statewide.
Position-Specific Details:
Appointment Type: PROBATION, or PROMOTION OF A PERMANENT, CLASSIFIED LOUISIANA STATE EMPLOYEE
Current permanent status classified LA State employees may be required to accept a probational appointment if accepted.
An employee selected for a promotion may be required to serve a trial detail prior to being permanently promoted.
This posting may also be used to fill a vacancy as a temporary job appointment. If filled as a temporary job appointment, should a permanent position become available, the employee may be converted to a probational appointment.
Compensation:
This position also offers premium pay: A rate between$.50 and $1.00 an hourfor each regular hour worked, based on years of service with DOC.
This position also offers an additional $0.58 per hour for location pay.
Note regarding the advertised pay range: The maximum amounts listed are the maximum salary amounts a person can make at each level over their career and NOTthe amount we are allowed to pay a new hire.
