Sr. Accountant

Description We are looking for an experienced Senior Accountant to join our team on a contract basis in Colorado Springs, Colorado. This role will be instrumental in maintaining financial accuracy and supporting audit processes for a nonprofit organization. The ideal candidate will bring expertise in nonprofit accounting, proficiency in Sage Intacct, and a commitment to upholding financial integrity.

Responsibilities:

Execute and manage month-end close procedures, ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting.

Oversee accounts payable processes, including reviewing and approving bills for payment.

Prepare audit-related schedules and documentation, and coordinate responses to auditor inquiries.

Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts, including posting journal entries.

Collaborate with leadership and program managers to ensure compliance with nonprofit policies and financial regulations.

Monitor fund accounting activities and ensure adherence to grant reporting requirements.

Identify and implement improvements for accounting processes to enhance operational efficiency.

Provide mentorship and guidance to less experienced accounting staff as needed. Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.

A minimum of 5 years of progressive accounting experience, including at least 2 years in a nonprofit setting.

Proficiency in Sage Intacct.

Demonstrated knowledge of month-end close processes, accounts payable management, and audit preparation.

Strong attention to detail and organizational skills to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

Excellent communication and collaboration abilities to work effectively across teams.

Experience with grant reporting and nonprofit financial compliance is highly desirable.
