Job Description
Job Summary:
This position serves as an integral role to the Tuition Office. Ongoing collaborations with Financial Aid, Admissions, Advising, Records and Registration, as well as Fiscal Services are key to the success of this position. One must be able to provide guidance in customer service in a fast-paced environment by various methods (including in-person, over the phone, email) to ensure Saint Paul College's service commitment is met. The Accounting Officer will provide work direction and assistance by reviewing and assisting in reconciliations on a daily basis, process daily deposits, and handle various cash, checks, and EFT transactions. Additionally, the Accounting Officer manages various processes appropriately and provide technical fiscal advice and service to students, outside constituents, and internal stakeholders of the college in accordance with the policies and procedures of Minnesota State to ensure sound fiscal responsibility. This position is responsible for processing refunds to students and sponsoring agencies in accordance with College policies; assisting in the disbursement and distribution of grant and scholarship funds via BankMobile in accordance with the guidelines provided to us by sponsors; processing and distributing of State and Federal grant and student loan funds via BankMobile and calculation of Title IV return of funds when required; disbursing funds and maintaining the accounting records for the Student Senate Emergency Funding account. Respond to emails and phone calls to the Tuition Office relating to Tuition Office policies and other questions. This position will lead work direction for the 3 FT Accounting Technicians.

Salary Range:
The salary range for this position is $26.43 - $38.55 hourly.
Minimum Qualifications
One year of accounting experience
Experience leading a team in customer service area, appropriately handle of refer callers, greet customers and forward o appropriate resource with respect, professionalism and courtesy at all times
Knowledge of current data entry procedures and ability to enter critical information accurately
Effectively utilize a variety of computer applications including Word, Excel, Outlook and others to create and edit documents and reports
Knowledge of spreadsheets in order to create, compile data, track and report findings
Knowledge and ability to apply Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
Demonstrated commitment to work with diverse clients, stakeholders and students, fostering a diverse working and learning environment
Preferred Qualification
Five (5) years' experience in a professional-level accounting position.
Two years (2) experience with high-level accounting, data analysis, and attention to detail. Thorough knowledge of state and federal policies and regulations as they relate to the functional areas of the position.
Ability to provide accurate, detailed analysis of complex information and issues as well as ability to prepare, analyze, and create ad-hoc reports for auditing and reporting requirements.
Working knowledge and experience in applying the principles of GASB, FASB, and generally accepted accounting principles.
High degree of technical proficiency in various computer applications, such as: Microsoft programs including Word, Excel, and Access, and database management.
Strong interpersonal and communications skills, both oral and written, sufficient to provide accurate information in a tactful and professional manner.
Ability to communicate accounting concepts, principles, policies, and reports with non-accounting clientele in a way that maximizes understanding for all parties.
