Accounts Payable Specialist

Description We are looking for an experienced Accounts Payable Specialist to join our team in Lansing, Michigan. In this contract position, you will play a key role in maintaining efficient financial operations by handling various accounting tasks. This opportunity is ideal for individuals with strong organizational skills and a keen eye for detail, who thrive in a fast-paced healthcare environment.

Responsibilities:

Process accounts payable invoices, ensuring accuracy and timely payment.

Perform data entry for payroll, cash receipts, and accounts payable using a computerized accounting system.

Approve and issue purchase orders while maintaining compliance with company policies.

Reconcile bank statements and prepare financial documentation, including annual 1099 forms.

Prepare daily deposit receipts and manage cash flow records.

Maintain organized and accurate filing systems for financial documents.

Distribute mail and provide general clerical support to the accounting team.

Act as fund custodian, monitoring and controlling petty cash.

Assist in scheduling fiscal data and completing bank reconciliations.

Identify and resolve discrepancies using analytical and problem-solving skills. Requirements - High school diploma or equivalent (G.E.D.) required.

Minimum of one year of experience in accounts payable, general ledger, or an automated purchasing/accounts payable system.

Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel, with the ability to pass related proficiency exams.

Strong data entry skills with exceptional attention to detail.

Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.

Familiarity with account coding, invoice processing, and check runs.

Knowledge of Automated Clearing House (ACH) transactions is a plus.
