Duties Description DUTIES:- Performs word processing for high-priority materials that require accuracy and efficiency. - Scans documents as needed- Mails legal papers with Affidavits of Service.- Answers and handles phone calls from within and outside the agency.- Assists with the submission of purchase orders for goods and services.- Coordinates with ITS and Facilities Management to request equipment or report issues.- Assists the attorneys with handling administrative records, files, and related materials.- Requests court or hearing transcripts as required.- Performs other routine administrative duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications QUALIFICATIONS: This title is part of the New York Hiring for Emergency Limited Placement Statewide Program (NY HELPS). For the duration of the NY HELPS Program, this title may be filled via a non-competitive appointment, which means no examination is required but all candidates must meet the minimum qualifications of the title for which they apply.At a future date, it is expected employees hired under NY HELPS will have their non-competitive employment status converted to competitive status, without having to compete in an examination. Employees will then be afforded with all of the same rights and privileges of competitive class employees of New York State. While serving permanently in a NY HELPS title, employees may take part in any promotion examination for which they are qualified.NON-COMPETITIVE MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:Two years of experience* in administrative support, which includes use of office software (e.g., email, word processing), provision of customer service, business writing, and/or office administration.MQ Substitution: Certification (e.g., IAAP Certified Administrative Professional) or associate's degree in office administration, secretarial science, administrative assistance, paralegal, business technology, or office technology substitutes for two years of experience.A permanent non-competitive appointment may also be made pursuant to Section 52(7) of the Civil Service Law, if three or fewer qualified candidates in the department promotion field apply for this position. Qualifications for a non-competitive promotion for this title include: one year of service in a clerical title allocated to Grade 6 and above; and completion of a two-year traineeship.70.1 TRANSFER QUALIFICATIONS:One year of permanent or contingent permanent service in an eligible title for transfer determined to be similar by Civil Service.
