Job Description:
The AVP of Finance, Proactive Care Support Services will lead financial strategy, reporting, and analysis focusing on Intermountain Health's key strategy of Expanding Proactive Care. This role involves evaluating and forecasting financial performance under alternative payment models, aligning incentives across payment arrangements, and collaborating with finance and operational leaders to optimize outcomes in an integrated system.
The leader is responsible for educating finance and system executive leadership on the system-impact of operational decisions in a mixed fee-for-service and at-risk payment environment. The incumbent will report to the VP of Finance Operations and Analysis and will be a key member of the Proactive Care Support Services leadership team. The position requires excellent analytical, communication, and problem-solving abilities to drive financial success in an integrated healthcare system.
*This role will work remotely. The ideal candidate must live in one of the Intermountain regional headquarters (Salt Lake City, UT, Denver, CO or Las Vegas, NV) and must be willing and able to travel to attend meetings in person as required.
Essential Functions
Develop and implement financial strategies, policies, and procedures for Proactive Care, in alignment with the organization's mission, vision, and values.
Provides strategic direction in the selection, development and implementation of information technology solutions. Ensures that advanced integration technology strategies that optimize business process to ultimately provide extraordinary services.
Directs and has oversight of financial operations including developing, recommending, implementing and controlling financial planning and monitoring systems.
Directs the financial services including consolidated budgeting, reporting, forecasting, and analysis. Ensures financial statements and operational reports are prepared in a timely, accurate fashion.
Identifies and monitors medical expense trends and supports the development of the implementation of medical expense improvement initiatives.
Oversees and validates payment models with an understanding of their impact on Proactive Care and the broader Intermountain organization.
Identifies financial/operational problems and performance improvement opportunities, as well as new program needs, and prepares and implements solutions.
Partners with Intermountain's payer contracting function to oversee the growth and administration of value-based payer contracts and makes recommendations that consider contracting, medical management, provider/member relations, sales and marketing, and claims administration.
Provides leadership, education, advice and counsel to management, and staff as it relates to value-based care financial management and performance.

Qualifications
Master's degree in finance, business/healthcare administration or related field from an accredited institution is required. Education is verified.
CPA preferred.
Demonstrated progressive experience in financial management, planning and analysis in a large and complex healthcare organization.
Extensive experience developing and leading a high performing finance team.

Demonstrated strong understanding of Medicare/Medicaid reimbursement, budgeting, accounting, cost accounting, tax-exempt financing, managed care, insurance, real estate, and government regulations as they relate to health care.
Demonstrated understanding of the impact of benefit package design and population health initiatives and provider contracts.
Demonstrated ability to present complex financial information in a manner that produces action and results.
Experience with complex risk revenue flow of funds and management company dynamics is preferred.
Experience in alternative payment models or Medicare programs (MSSP, MA, CJR, BCPI) is preferred.
Physical Requirements
Ongoing need for employee to see and read information, documents, monitors, identify equipment and supplies, and be able to assess customer needs.
Frequent interactions with providers, colleagues, customers, patients/clients, and visitors that require employee to verbally communicate as well as hear and understand spoken information, needs, and issues quickly and accurately.
Manual dexterity of hands and fingers to manipulate complex and delicate equipment with precision and accuracy. This includes frequent computer use for typing, accessing needed information, etc.
May have the same physical requirements as those of clinical or patient care jobs, when the leader takes clinical shifts.
For roles requiring driving: Expected to drive a vehicle which requires sitting, seeing and reading signs, traffic signals, and other vehicles.
This is an exempt, full-time position with a compensation range of $237,900 - $300,100, annually, and as determined by prior years of relevant experience. With this position, you are eligible to participate in the Annual Pay for Performance (AP4P) Plan. This plan enables Intermountain Health to provide leaders with an additional performance compensation opportunity. The AP4P award opportunities are calculated as a percentage of your base salary. Awards are paid out based on attainment of selected Board-approved goals.
