Click here to see an inside look at the Unclaimed Property Division.About the Division:The Unclaimed Property Division is responsible for administering the stateand#8217;s unclaimed property program and returning abandoned property to its rightful owners. To accomplish this objective, division staff receives and processes property reports from holders; provides information and assistance to claimants; verifies and processes claims, evaluates data for system implementation and manages the contract audit and voluntary disclosure programs. Owner outreach efforts include posting available properties on two online searchable databases (ClaimItTexas.gov and Missingmoney.com) and owner notice mailings.Monday through Friday, 40 hours a week with occasional evening, weekend hours and holidays. Hours may change based on business need.
Qualifications: Minimum QualificationsEducation:Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with a bachelorand#8217;s degree.Preferred Education:Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with a bachelorand#8217;s degree in accounting, finance, business or marketing.Experience:Four years of recent experience processing deceased owner unclaimed property claims.
Two years of experience responding to customer email and phone inquiries.
Three years recent experience performing highly complex (senior level) accounts examination work, conducting research and processing Texas business or general unclaimed property claims. Preferred Experience:Recent experience handling and responding to high priority claims.
Experience reviewing probate court documents.
Communicating effectively in writing and verbally in Spanish.
Experience developing training materials and providing on-the-job training.Substitution:One additional year of full-time experience providing customer service and responding to customer telephone and email inquiries may substitute for each year (30 semester hours) of the required education with a maximum of 120 semester hours (four years).Summary Of Physical RequirementsThe physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. This position may involve moving up to 25 pounds of office equipment/material on a limited basis.In this role:You will be performing highly advanced (senior-level) consultative services in the General Claims Processing Section of the Unclaimed Property Division. Work involves planning, coordinating, implementing and/or revising programs within the section. Duties include reviewing inventory reports, setting priorities and providing day-to-day direction and guidance for the team. Trains staff members on processing unclaimed property requests, develops training materials and performs quality assurance reviews of completed work for all claim @types. May participate in system analysis and testing of new programs. Works under minimal supervision, with considerable latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment.Duties include:Providing guidance and technical assistance to staff members by:Assigning and prioritizing the work of team members.
Conducting quality assurance reviews of completed work.
Providing input on team member performance to management.
Conducting training and overseeing training conducted by other section staff.
Serving as a subject matter expert (SME) and assisting less experienced division staff as needed.
Communicating the status and progress of activities and workload inventories. Overseeing the sectionand#8217;s monthly quality assurance program. Identifying opportunities to streamline procedures or improve processes. Making recommendations and assisting with implementation of approved recommendations. Representing the division and section in meetings.
Identifying and reporting unclaimed property system problems, recommending resolutions for reported issues, and conducting testing on resulting system changes and enhancements. Participating in the development of documentation for system changes and enhancements and providing training to division staff as requested.
Reviewing, processing, editing, and updating unclaimed property claims. Answering inquiries from claimants and providing guidance to claimants on required documentation and claim status.
Performing all other related duties as assigned.Have knowledge of:Unclaimed property statutes and reporting requirements.
