PURPOSE OF THE JOB
The Accounting Director directs the staff and activities responsible for monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting, including maintenance of general and subsidiary ledgers. Initiates, develops, and administers accounting practices and policies throughout the organization to ensure that financial and operating reports accurately reflect the condition of the business and provide reliable information necessary to control the operations.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Develops functional department policies, procedures, and processes.
Creates plans to meet unexpected situations, new developments, and changes in the business environment.
Understands the factors and conditions affecting the organization.
Responds appropriately when the driving organizational factors change.
Enforces and maintains operating practices and policies for the department.
Works to minimize error and maximize productivity through continuous modification and refinement of Accounting procedures.
Manages Accounting department objectives and compliance.
Establishes and monitors performance objectives for the Accounting department and reports on accomplishments.
Ensures that systems are in compliance with acceptable Accounting practices and applicable regulations.
Directs the work and performance of Managers and/or Supervisors responsible for financial reporting, General Accounting, Treasury, and/or payroll activities.
Oversees Model Audit Rule compliance in related areas of responsibility.
Monitors federal and state tax compliance.
Oversees regulatory financial reporting and audits.
Assists in responding to Unit Statistical inquiries.
Manages completion of multiple state data reporting requirements.
Prepares monthly, quarterly, and annual financial information.
Establishes calendar for department based on Enterprise calendar.
Guides financial and regulatory audits.
Develops and leads a team of Accounting personnel in the Finance department.
Provides strategic direction to a team of Accounting personnel. Communicates Mission, Values, and other organization operating principles to direct and indirect reports.
Establishes and maintains the overall work cadence and, in partnership with Department leadership, ensures performance and outcomes strive for excellence in delivery and customer experience. Ensures that the entire team is engaged and that leadership practices encourage development, recognition, and retention.
Establishes and adheres to hiring criteria, on-boarding, and training requirements for incoming staff.
Oversees the performance management and development process for the team and performs performance management duties, development planning and coaching for direct reports.
Acts as a resource for team members to answer questions and solve complex problems.
Manages budget, technology and other resources, workload, and customer requests for Department services. Ensures adherence to all Company policies and procedures and Compliance responsibilities.
Ensures data quality, adherence to IT security guidelines, profitability and other risk-related metrics for self and members of the team.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
Directly supervises employees within the Accounting team and carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with company policies and applicable laws. These responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; conducting performance and salary reviews; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems; coaching, mentoring, and developing team members to further their skills and knowledge; creating and monitoring development plans; setting performance expectations/goals; forecasting staffing needs and planning for peak times and absences; enforcing department policies and procedures.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Bachelor's degree from four-year college or university; Accounting, Finance, or related degree preferred. May require a CPA and/or MBA. Minimum 10 years of experience in public and/or private Accounting. Minimum 5 years of experience in progressively responsible management positions.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS
Thorough knowledge of computer applications related to accounting and financial management systems. Must be able to manage multiple accounting operations areas simultaneously. Broad, in-depth understanding of Accounting principles, concepts, operations, and practices of the business unit. Highly developed written oral and presentation skills, and ability to effectively interact with management, employees, regulators, and external auditors. Demonstrated leadership competencies and ability to plan, coordinate and supervise employees, and all aspects of the accounting systems. Advanced skills in Microsoft suite applications. Self-motivated, strong organizational skills with attention to detail. Adaptable to shifting workloads and building a positive working relationship within the department and across company. Ability to work on concurrent assignments.

The current range for this position is
$119,748.71 - $201,947.98
This range is exclusive of fringe benefits and potential bonuses. If hired at ICW Group, your final base salary compensation will be determined by factors unique to each candidate, including experience, education and the location of the role and considers employees performing substantially similar work.
