Project Manager, NERC CIP Audits

Job Description:Apex Systems is seeking an experienced Project Manager, NERC CIP who is interested in supporting large information technology projects for a Utility Technologies Solutions team. In this role, you will be driving the execution and delivery of IT projects. This project is to prepare and oversee a NERC CIP audit for the client. This person will track CIP evidence responses, and ensure the team is ready for audit.Location: The client is located in New Jersey. Candidate can be remote but must be willing to travel to the NJ area one a month as needed.Responsibilities:Direct project team personnel, manage cost and schedule, ensure contract compliance, and serve as customer interface.Track CIP evidence responses, and ensure the team is ready for auditManage technical scope, cost, and schedule of assigned tasks or functions of the project.Provide strong, proactive, and assertive leadership skills that engage multidiscipline work teams to respond to business needs for assigned projectsLead project team members such as executives, line of business subject matter experts, controllers, and schedulers through the lifecycle of a projectManage project teams that typically include multiple vendors with onshore and offshore resourcesCreate project management plans, set expectations, execute governance reviews and ensure the project plans are driven by organizational proceduresCoordinates with cross-functional project stakeholders to develop project scope, objectives, goals, and deliverablesEnsure that requirements are gathered, documented, reviewed and approved per organizational/PMO standards.Work with assigned scheduler to create a work breakdown structure that defines all activities required for the project deliverablesManage project budget, maintain financial plan, track actuals vs. plan, provide monthly forecasts, report monthly accrualsEstablish and provide high-quality, informative written and verbal project communications, including weekly status, dashboards, and project updatesActively monitor, track, and manage project tasks, timelines, attainment of established milestones and overall quality of project activities and deliverablesQualifications:Bachelor's degree in business, Information Technology, Computer Science or related degree with 8+ years of experience as an IT Project Manager. Additional years of experience may be considered in lieu of degree.PMP or equivalent is preferred5+ years experience managing security projectsDemonstrated previous experience leading, executing, and documenting at least one NERC CIP audit at a major US utility company is required.Excellent written and verbal communication skills with senior to executive level managementAbility to manage schedule and costs, and ability to provide written status reports and craft materials.Solid understanding and previous experience of Project Management and Project Management Office processes and procedures requiredWorking knowledge of Microsoft Project, Primavera P6, Smartsheet or similar project management toolAbility to build and maintain relationships, partnerships, and external networksAbility to work independently, with minimal supervision and work effectively in a collaborative team environment while keeping the team informedExcellent customer-facing skillsExcellent attention to detailExcellent decision-making and organizational skills are requiredProven analytical, evaluative, and problem-solving abilitiesMaintain confidentiality and adhere to data protection and other security guidelines where appropriateEEO EmployerApex Systems is an equal opportunity employer.
