ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM MANAGER DISTINGUISHING FEATURES OF THE CLASS; The work involves responsibility for fiscal planning by securing funding resources through Federal, State and local programs, and administering and monitoring funding for projects related to community planning and economic development. The incumbent in this position works directly with prospective developers, industries, businesses, realtors and other government agencies to attract new commerce and promote expansion of existing businesses within the municipality and to provide project specific detailing of the New York State Empire Zone benefits. The incumbent works closely with the Director of Planning and Development, City Manager, and various department heads on grant preparation, implementation and administration. This position provides staff assistance to various City Boards as needed. Work is performed under the general direction of the City Manager with considerable leeway allowed for independent judgment in carrying out the details of the work. Does related work as required.
