Manufacturing Associate Manager - Power & Recovery
Role Summary
The Power Manufacturing Associate Manager is a leader of the Power, Recovery and Caustic Plant organizations at the fully integrated mill in Texarkana, TX. This role is accountable for the safe and efficient operations of all Power, Recovery and Caustic Plant areas, andreports to the Manufacturing Sr. Manager - Power & Recovery.
Duties & Responsibilities ( include but are not limited to the following) :
Provide visible and active leadership for the overall Power & Recovery Operations
Champions safety efforts andenforce safety standards and practicesresulting in superior performance by creating and maintaining a safe work environment
Utilize and refine standard work systems to effect sustainable positive results in safety, environmental, people, housekeeping, quality, cost, and performance
Provides leadership and resources to support a high-performance work group
Supports high performance work group concepts with the ability to lead change
Develop and manage Team Members through mentorship, coaching and accountability methods
Collaborates with all levels of management personnel to establish production and quality control standards for the Department
Manage all area production activities and establish area production priorities for products in keeping with effective operations and cost factors
Complies with area budgets and manage costs within established budget for financial performance of area
Department goals and objectives, and steward performance management process consistent with company and mill direction
Understand and manage environmental impacts of production processes to ensure strict environmental compliance
Implement and manage improvement strategies designed to: include all production areas, increase customer satisfaction, increase yield and operating efficiency, reduce cost, and improve reliability
Utilize and improve standard work systems to ensure a strong foundation for continuous improvement and work performance accountability
Collaborates with key staff to help in the development of capital projects and strategic improvement plans for Department
Ensure there is effective communication of business strategy, goals, and initiatives to Department workforce
Coordinates predictive and preventative maintenance activities with Maintenance Department establishing long-term sustainability for equipment
Ensures compliance of mechanical integrity programs including tank integrity, pressure vessels, safety relief devices and infrastructure
Maintain effective communications and working relationships with Operations Departments, Maintenance, Safety, IT, Environmental, Human Resources, Engineering, Purchasing and Suppliers assuring alignment with meeting quality standards and operational efficiencies
Other duties as assigned
Required Characteristics
Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Paper Science or related field with 5-7 years operations experience within the paper industry including 3-5 years in leadership roles
Demonstrated leadership skills combined with technical knowledge and operations experience in pulp and paper manufacturing processes, including digester operations, pulp screening, pulp washing, and bleaching processes
Strong interpersonal and leadership skills
Proven strong strategic planning and analytical skills
Demonstrated troubleshooting skills of the pulping process
Demonstrated ability to develop strategic priorities to meet short and long-term objectives
Proven ability to manage and mentor leadership staff
Proven experience with reliability and continuous improvement principles and techniques
Demonstrated ability to drive change leading to improved performance over time
Strong organizational skills with the proven ability develop and implement changes necessitated by internal and external business conditions
Solid oral and written communication skills
Comprehensive knowledge of the operation of an integrated mill
Proficient at managing all levels of an operating area and interfacing with all levels of an organization
Possess an entrepreneurial and innovative spirit, with a situational (servant, directive, collaborative) leadership approach to managing the team
Must be able to pass a background check, drug screening and reference check
Legally authorized to work in the United States
Desired Characteristics
Experience within a unionized environment
Working knowledge of SAP
Knowledge Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma
Pay Range: $94,875 - $126,500
