Position Overview

Kiewit Infrastructure Engineering (KIE) has an immediate opening for a Geologist in our growing Geotechnical Group. You will be part of our rapidly growing Infrastructure Design Department, which includes structural, geotechnical, civil, drainage, roadway, rail, and materials disciplines, is a multi-faceted and leading-edge division of Kiewit with best-in-class technical expertise focused on the design-build delivery of infrastructure projects.

Location

This position is based out of our Westlake, TX location and require frequent travels to project sites or as business necessitates.

Responsibilities

In this role, you will utilize geological knowledge under the direction of an experienced Geological or Geotechnical Engineer to complete technical engineering assignments in support of Kiewit Corporation business, including:

Providing project support during the proposal/bid phase; working with team members to assess subsurface conditions to identify and develop solutions to geological and geotechnical problems or challenges.

Working on design-build and EPC projects, for transportation, power, industrial, and oil, gas & chemical markets, including underground construction and tunneling.

Performing or overseeing desktop geologic studies, geologic mapping, subsurface investigations, field testing, and construction oversight.

Producing engineering reports, drawings, and detailed calculation packages.

Qualifications

BS in Geology

Minimum of 2 years of geology experience particularly with subsurface explorations, subsurface logging borings, geotechnical and geophysical investigations

Strong all-around academic knowledge of geology, including engineering geology, structural geology, geomorphology, hydrogeology, field mapping, geophysics, subsurface investigations, and use of GIS.

Experience in any of the following is desired but not required: boring log preparation, development of cross-sections or fence diagrams, use of software to prepare subsurface block models, use of a database or other commercially available software to organize large volumes of subsurface information.

Strong verbal and written communication skills; demonstrated ability to work in a team setting.

Strong interpersonal skills resulting in exceptional rapport with people.

Ability to travel as needed to project sites and the physical ability to freely access all points of a construction site in wide-ranging climates and environmental conditions.

Working Conditions

This role may require travel to project sites and occasional temporary duty assignments.

Understand and follow oral and written instructions, including warning signs, equipment use, and other policies. Base Compensation: $76,000/yr - $80,000/yr

(Actual compensation is subject to variation due to such factors as education, experience, skillset, and/or location)
