Job Summary and Qualifications
The Mental Health Professional III role will deliver exceptional psychiatric treatment to patients and their loved ones. The position prioritizes the satisfaction of their patients by offering patient-centered and high-quality care. The responsibilities include evaluations, psycho-education, group activities, planning for treatment, mapping out discharge, and providing therapeutic counseling help. They work to produce positive outcomes for their patients by using verified techniques in one-on-one, family, and group counseling sessions.
The Mental Health Professional III facilitates high quality, patient-centered care by providing psychiatric treatment services to patients and their families. The Mental Health Professional III performs assessments, psycho-education, process groups, treatment planning, discharge planning and therapeutic counseling support through evidenced based interventions in individual, family, and group therapy.
What you will do in this role:
You will assess, plan, intervene and evaluate the care of psychiatric patients.
You will instruct patients and families regarding treatment instructions
Demonstrates advanced clinical skills and ability to plan and facilitate individual, group and family psychoeducational and process groups.
Develops treatment plans and attends treatment planning meetings and reviews on an ongoing basis.
Collaborates with the multidisciplinary team to assess and coordinate patient's discharge planning needs and readiness for discharge. Provides guidance on complex issues.
Conducts post-discharge follow-up as indicated.
Facilitates and participates in Community Education, Activities and Support Groups, as appropriate to scope.
Requirements:
Master's degree in a Human Services related field (Psychology, Social Work, Mental Health, or Counseling
Advanced educational preparation or experience in the area of clinical practice and/or management
Currently licensed as one of the following professionals in the state(s) of practice, according to law and regulation:
Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCWS)
Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC)*
Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT)*
Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC)*
Licensed Independent Social Worker (LISW, LICSW)
Must be authorized by the state to provide outpatient psychiatry treatment
services to Medicare beneficiaries.
American Heart Association BLS (within 30 days of hire)
Crisis Intervention Prevention (CPI) training required (within 30 days of hire)
What will you do in this role:
Maintains effective communication with patients, families, multidisciplinary teams, and continuum of care providers.
Maintains professionalism and uses good communication skills to interact with peers, staff, patients, and families, and resolve conflicts.
Demonstrates knowledge of and ability to maintain clear professional boundaries with peers, patients, and families.
Provides education and guidance about state commitment processes, abuse reporting requirements, the duty to warn, and guardianship processes.
Demonstrates knowledge and role in hospital codes.
Serves as an educational resource to patients, families, interdisciplinary team members, payer representatives, and other parties as appropriate about behavioral services.
Reviews, coaches, and helps with the training of new staff/interns as assigned within approved practice and program guidelines. Participates in developing department goals and clinical programming.
Performs utilization review as assigned.
Helps with Process and Quality Improvement initiatives.
What qualifications you will need:
Basic Cardiac Life Support must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date
Nonviolent Crisis Intervention must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date
