Job Summary and Qualifications
Job Summary:
This individual will assume leadership of Corporate Security for HCA. They will be responsible for establishing and executing corporate-wide physical security programs consisting of:
Corporate Security, including Armed and Unarmed Security and Enhance Protection (Uniformed)
Event Protection Services
Use of Force Investigations
Executive Protection Services
Corporate security Liaison to Cyber Defense Center and Risk Intelligence and Information Center
Federal Law Enforcement Agency Liaison, including Federal/State Fusion Centers
Local Law Enforcement Liaison, including Bureau of Prisons/Corrections
Instruction and Training Development
Emergency Preparedness, Operations, and Response.
Success in this role will require defining a comprehensive Corporate physical services strategy and programs.
This involves gaining senior leadership and stakeholder support and effectively rolling out the strategy across the corporate campuses.
Responsibilities:
Responsible for governance, deployment, and oversight of corporate security functions, including armed and unarmed security, enhanced protection (uniformed) Use of Force Investigations, training, law-enforcement coordination (Federal and State) and emergency response across corporate environments.
Responsible for HCA's Event Protection Program including all high-profile, high-risk events such as Executive meeting and conferences, Board of Directors Meetings, Leadership Development Institute conferences, Shareholder meetings by identifying, assessing, and mitigating physical security threats to our executives and corporate assets to ensure the safety of HCA's executive leadership and the continuity of HCA's operations through security operation plans.
Responsible for Site Readiness, Drills, and Resilience: Ensure ongoing readiness across all locations through risk assessments, security drills, training, and proactive resilience planning
Assist in leading the development and implementation of all aspects of a comprehensive Active Shooter and Hostile Event Response (ASHER) program. Conduct situational awareness videos and training material. Research new material/training programs to ensure HCA is doing the right thing for patients and employees.
Act as the corporate security liaison to the Cyber Defense Operations Center and the Risk Intelligence and Information Center (RIIC) for threats with physical, cyber, or insider security implications.
Conducts and manages HCA's Use of Force (UoF) investigations following HCA policy and The Joint Commission guidance as a quality control measure to ensure we protect our patients, colleagues, systems, and facilities.
Track overall trends in the Use of Force to ensure the program is focused on prevention, accountability, or training improvements and identify spikes in activity. Including:
Number and severity of injuries sustained by suspects or officers due to force.
Identify the most common force @types and assess whether non-lethal force is prioritized.
Ensure that force is being used appropriately and legally.
Assess the outcomes of force incidents and the potential need for different tactics.
Identify patterns of force usage by specific officers or units and assess training needs.
Average time taken to complete a use of force investigation.
Track adherence to policies and identify areas for improvement or clarification.
Percentage of officers receiving use-of-force training within a specified period.
Ensure officers are current on proper use of force tactics and de-escalation techniques.
Number of repeat use of force incidents involving the same officer.
For high-profile events, develop operations plans and lead security operations, ensuring smooth access control, crowd management, and perimeter security.
Develop and implement operations plans for Executive Protection for high-profile leadership, ensuring their safety in public and private settings.
Assists in coordinating and managing HCA's complex physical security program, including developing policies, guidelines, communications, awareness, and training for all HCA facilities.
Serves as the department representative to Enterprise Emergency Preparedness and Emergency Operations (EPEO)
Evaluate training provided by HCA's security staffing vendors for quality and to ensure it meets or exceeds HCA standards.
Collaborate with stakeholders and engage governance and company leadership to set priorities based on risk, resources, and business priorities.
Forges partnerships with all security colleagues and external clients on the security and safety-related programs he/she manages, including law enforcement agencies.
Partners with Patient Safety, Regulatory and Accreditation, Employee Health and Safety, and Clinical Services Group on all security-related programs and projects.
Stay abreast of healthcare security laws, regulations, trends, and services by building and maintaining internal and external professional relationships.
Communicates with impact. Collaborates with Corporate, Division leadership, and other stakeholders to effectively cascade communication and critical messages to colleagues within the Division and its markets. Liaisons with the broader IPS organization to ensure consistency in approach and leveraging SMEs where applicable and available.
Lead frequent interaction with key stakeholders from the group, division, market, facilities, and various Lines of Business.
Coordinate leadership decisions on physical security technology selection and use.
Coordinate leadership decisions on organizational structures supporting physical security programs.
Coordinate leadership discussions on resources and investments in Physical Security.
Qualifications:
Knowledge of physical security principles, methods, and practices

Leadership: Leads change, drives execution, and displays executive decision-making capabilities.
Education and Experience:
Bachelor's degree - Required
Master's degree - Preferred
5+ years of experience in a leadership role - Required
7+ years of experience in security, military, law enforcement, and/or Information Security - Required
DHS TSA Armed Security Officer - Required
