Northwood Restaurant & Bar, Inc is seeking two (2) Cooks to work at 29944 E Channel Road, Drummond Island, MI 49726. The position will be full-time and seasonal during the dates of April 1, 2026 -- November 1, 2026.
The role of the Cook is to ensure that the kitchen is ready for production, fully stocked and prepares all food. The cook must ensure all meals are made consistently to our high standards. Season and cook food according to recipes or personal judgement. Other duties may include monitoring product qualities and food freshness to ensure minimal waste. Ensure that food is stored and cooked at correct temperature by regulating temperature of ovens, broilers, grills, roasters. Must work well in a fast-paced kitchen environment. Must be a team player, honest and dependable, a strong critical thinker, with good time management skills, organized and detail-oriented, independent worker and a problem solver. Must have commercial kitchen experience, fine dining, baking experience and customer service. Must be prepared to walk, sit, use hand and fingers to handle or feel objects and tools, reach with hands and arms, balance, talk and hear. Employee must lift and move up to 50 pounds. Must be able to see with close and far vision. This job operates in a kitchen. This role uses ovens, grills, knives and mixers among other restaurant equipment. Employee could be exposed to hot water, potentially slippery floors, garbage disposals and cleaning chemicals.
Employees will work Mon-Sun an average of 35 hours/wk. Must be able to work any 7-hour shift within the hours of 2:00 pm to 11:00 pm any day of the week, days off rotate, shifts vary. This job requires continuous movement, regularly bending, lifting, pushing, must be flexible, be able to communicate in English and be a team player, weekends and holidays are required. No minimum education required. Must have at least 3 months' experience as a cook.
On-the-job training is provided. The employer will provide workers with all tools, supplies, and equipment required to perform the job at no charge. Daily transportation is not provided.
The wage is $15.96 per hour. All deductions will be made from paychecks that are required by law. No other deductions will be made unless voluntarily agreed upon. Overtime is available at a rate of $23.94 per hour. Wages will be paid bi-weekly on Tuesday, and the employer will use a single workweek as its standard for computing wages due.

The employer will reimburse the H-2B worker in the first workweek for all visa, visa processing, border crossing, and other related fees, including those mandated by the government, incurred by the H-2B worker. If the worker completes 50% of the work contract period, employer will reimburse the worker for transportation and subsistence from the place of recruitment to the place of work. Upon completion of the work contract or where the worker is dismissed earlier, employer will provide or pay for worker's reasonable costs of return transportation and subsistence back home or to the place the worker originally departed to work, except where the worker will not return due to subsequent employment with another employer. The amount of transportation payment or reimbursement will be equal to the most economical and reasonable common carrier for the distance involved. Daily subsistence will be provided at a rate of $16.28 per day during travel to a maximum of $68.00 per day with receipts.
