Job Title: Medical AssistantJob Description

The OBGYN Medical Assistant plays a crucial role in supporting physicians, nurse practitioners, and clinical staff by delivering high-quality patient care and ensuring smooth daily operations. This role involves both clinical and administrative responsibilities, requiring strong communication skills, empathy, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

Prepare exam rooms and maintain a clean, safe clinical environment.

Escort patients to rooms, obtain vital signs, and document medical history.

Assist providers during gynecologic and obstetric exams and procedures.

Perform routine tests including urine dips, pregnancy tests, STI screenings, and specimen collection.

Administer injections per provider orders and within the MA scope.

Manage and document fetal doppler checks, prenatal intake measurements, and triage support.

Process laboratory specimens and maintain accurate lab documentation.

Restock rooms, maintain inventory, and ensure availability of medical supplies.

Check patients in and out; verify insurance and update patient records.

Schedule appointments, follow-up visits, and referrals.

Answer patient calls, relay messages to providers, and manage clinical inquiries.

Essential Skills

Medical Assistant Certification (CMA, RMA, CCMA) preferred.

Experience in an OBGYN setting strongly valued.

Strong interpersonal and communication skills.

Ability to multitask and remain calm in a busy clinical environment.

Proficiency with EPIC.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent required.

OBGYN experience.

Work Environment

This position requires a 40-hour work week with a schedule of Monday and Tuesday from 7:30 AM to 5:00 PM, Wednesday and Friday from 7:30 AM to 4:45 PM, and Thursday from 7:30 AM to 1:00 PM. Lunch breaks are from 12:30 PM to 1:15 PM, except on Thursday. From Memorial Day to Labor Day, the short day switches from Thursday to Friday.

This is a Contract position based out of New Haven, CT.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $25.00/hr.
