DESCRIPTION OF WORK

In this pivotal role, you will manage the administration of various sections of the Taxpayer Relief Act (Act 1). This position establishes, plans and supervises the activities of other accountants, advises the Division Chief on accounting procedures related to appropriation forecasting, subsidy calculations and reconciliations, develops guidelines and directs the activities of support staff. Work involves supervising the examination of financial data submitted by school districts, including preliminary budgets and proposed increases in tax rates. You will be expected to review school district requests for referendum exceptions to increase the tax rate beyond the allowed index amount and approve or disapprove referendum exception requests This position calculates and distributes allocations to school districts from the Property Tax Relief Fund. You will have the opportunity to communicate with individuals, agencies outside of the department and various school districts and school board personnel to convey information relating to the provisions of Act 1.

Work Schedule and Additional Information: Full-time employment Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday - Friday, with 60-minute lunch. Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time, 1 day per week in office, every Wednesday. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Harrisburg. The ability to telework is subject to change at any time. Check your email, including spam/junk folders, for these notices. REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Experience and Training Requirements: One year as an Accountant 3 (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration) or certification as a Public Accountant; or Four years of progressively responsible professional accounting experience, and graduation from a four-year college or university, including or supplemented by fifteen credits in accounting. Four years of bookkeeping experience and fifteen college credits in accounting may be substituted for college graduation. A Master's degree in Accounting or a related field may be substituted for one year of general work experience.
