Job Summary and Qualifications
The Clinical Nurse Coordinator (CNC) delivers high quality, patient-centered care and coordinates all functions in the unit. In partnership with the management team, the CNC monitors and evaluates nursing care in accordance with established policies. The CNC serves as a resource for staff and supports an unparalleled patient experience.
What you will do in this role:
Responds to trauma bays and travel and travels with patient to CT, OR, ICU as needed.
Responsible for trauma bay readiness
Coordinates and triages incoming trauma patients
Reviews/evaluates all activations for triage level appropriateness
Evaluates admission consultations
Manages care with primary trauma surgeon
Responsible for documentation compliance
Responds to in-house trauma patients critical needs
Facilitates psychosocial support
Mentors trauma nurse responders
Assist in training and in-servicing needs
Attends daily multidisciplinary rounds
Identify and report trauma audit filters
Participate in scholarly activities
Functions as clinical liaison for prehospital partners
Facilitates trauma bay time outs and debriefings in collaboration with primary surgeon
Proactively leads performance improvement activities, interprets data and suggests am implements changes based on performance
Tracks trauma quality indicators by patient and prepares case write-ups for presentation at Performance Improvement Patient Safety (PIPS) reviews and tracks decision and action items taken
Participates in PIPS process and assists and tracks or performs needed activities through to loop closure
Participates in trauma center survey preparation for State and American College of Surgeons (ACS) and sees activities through to completion
Participates and lectures in trauma-related education such as inservices, TNCC and other department driven courses
Participates in trauma related research
Participate in duties assigned by the director of trauma services
What qualifications you will need:
Required: Graduation from an accredited School of Nursing.
BSN Preferred
Required: Licensed in the State of Virginia as a registered nurse or has compact license.
Basic Cardiac Life Support must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date
Required - 3- 5 years of critical care trauma or emergency nursing experience.
