JOB REQUIREMENTS: Job Summary We are seeking a dedicated and experienced
Retail Lumber Yard/ Store Manager to oversee our lumber yard operations.
The ideal candidate will be responsible for driving sales, managing
inventory, managing daily activities in the yard, ensuring efficient
materials handling, maintaining a safe working environment and ensuring
exceptional customer service. A candidate who is proactive,
self-motivated, can effectively lead staff, maintain an organized retail
environment, strong leadership skills and foster business growth.
Responsibilities Retail Operations Management: Maintain store hours from
8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Optimize the retail space layout, including
shelving and product displays. Coordinate store remodeling, cleaning
(indoor/outdoor), and ongoing maintenance and improvements. Sales and
Customer Relations: Engage walk-in customer with effective sales
strategies and talking points. Establish and manage efficient customer
pickup procedures. Provide material lists from customers\' project
plans. Prepare and deliver timely bids and estimates to retail
customers. Potentially conduct sales calls and site visits to
construction locations. Inventory Control: Develop and maintain accurate
inventory records. Implement minimum/maximum stock levels and reordering
systems. Design the inventory storage area and manage stock
replenishment. Assist in assembling material and hardware kits for
specialized orders. Support pricing sheet management. Research and
procure product lines at competitive prices. Foster good relationships
with suppliers and vendors. Administrative and Financial Management:
Manage the proprietary Point of Sale (POS) system now in use and learn
and adapt to future upgrades. Ensure POS system functionality and
provide staff training. Collaborate with the corporate management to
monitor leads, sales, pricing discounts and financial performance.
Logistics and Delivery Coordination: Build product loads and package
things for deliveries. Establish and manage a delivery schedule and
customer pickup protocols. Make limited deliveries as needed. Marketing
and Outreach: Participate in industry networking events. Engage in local
marketing opportunities. Requirements Strong organizational and
management abilities. Excellent customer service and communication
skills. Experience in inventory management and POS systems. Proven
ability to manage staff and create schedules. Physical capability to
perform tasks related to store maintenance and inventory handling.
Knowledge of the lumber and building supply industry (construction
