For more information, go to med.nyu.edu, and interact with us on LinkedIn, Glassdoor, Indeed, Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.Position Summary: We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Manager - Research Laboratory Operations.In this role, the successful candidate provides operational management for all laboratories administered by Perlmutter Cancer Center, including those in the Smilow Research Center, Medical Science Building, Cure building and other sites as assigned. Operational management includes oversight of scientific instrumentation, facilities management including building operations, cleaning and recycling, climate control, compliance and laboratory safety. The Manager, Research Lab Operations will assist with the response to emergency needs either on-site or electronically, and if necessary, outside of normal business hours. Under the direction of the Associate Director, Grants and Research Administration, partner with PCC Grants and Finance Administration to assess lab staffing needs, funding resources and personnel changes in PCC laboratories. Serve as the primary operational contact for the on-boarding and off-boarding of laboratory PI's and their lab members.Job Responsibilities:- Manages day-to-day operations of all research laboratories administered by Perlmutter Cancer Center, including implementation and maintenance of Benchling e-lab notebooks, maintaining the laboratory membership tool in real-time and managing controlled substance tracking for all labs.- Supervise administrative coordinators or other support positions tasked with day-to-day lab operations including supply orders, management of gases and dry ice, etc.- Partners with PCC leadership to identify available space for laboratory investigators and their teams; this includes wet lab, dry lab and administrative space. Maintains an updated log of PCC research space utilization.- Coordinates onboarding needs of laboratory researchers pertaining to lab space assignment, moving logistics, equipment procurement, establishing maintenance contracts, obtaining access to the necessary applications for lab compliance and other duties as assigned.- Supervises laboratory research relocations and assists and guides staff with resolutions related to space moves.- In partnership with PCC leadership, coordinates offboarding of laboratory researchers including decommissioning of any lab resources, transfer of samples, and compliance with all NYULH and OSR offboarding requirements.- In conjunction with PCC research administration and finance, develop and manage annual operating budgets for each laboratory that encompasses personnel and OTPS expenses. Review performance in accordance with budgets on a regular schedule and work with PIs to make adjustments to personnel and OTPS that align spending with budgeted expenses.- Oversee purchasing service contracts and maintenance of all equipment.
