This position requires exposure to extreme outdoor temperatures, extensive sitting or walking, and the ability to lift up to 75 lbs. A valid drivers license is required. Require 3 months experience.
Job description:
We need seasonal employees to assist with all aspects of our corn, wheat, beans, sorghum, and potato operation. Duties include preparing fields for planting; attaching implements such as plows, discs, sprayers, and harvesters to tractors; and operating farm equipment including tractors, planters, sprayers, seed drills, manure spreaders, combines, irrigation equipment, and other machinery. Employees will engage in planting, weeding, spraying, cultivating, and harvesting crops; fertilize and apply pesticide solutions using hand sprayers; and irrigate fields using portable pipes, ditch systems, and pivot irrigation systems, including installation, maintenance, and repair. Additional tasks include loading and unloading crops or materials manually or with forklifts, augers, conveyors, or other equipment; monitoring product flow and removing damaged crops; adjusting and operating machinery controls; observing and listening for equipment malfunctions; and driving farm semi-trucks to haul crops, supplies, and tools. Employees will also be responsible for inspecting, maintaining, and completing routine repairs on equipment and irrigation systems, and recording agricultural data as required. The employer, at its sole discretion, may grant pay increases based on factors such as performance, longevity, and/or experience. Employer may also, at its sole discretion, offer performance-based incentive bonuses that are not guaranteed and are determined by the employer.
Anticipated hours of work per week: 50 hours per week
Schedule: Mon to Fri 9 hours a day, 5 hours on Saturday
